We're excited to announce that Alltech has signed a collaborative agreement with Tobermore Concrete, CEMCOR Ltd, and RSC Group as partners in the Mid-Ulster Biorefinery and Circular Economy Cluster. This initiative, facilitated by the Centre for Competitiveness and supported by the Centre for Advanced Sustainable Energy (CASE) at Queen's University Belfast, aims to construct a 10-megawatt biomethane facility in Northern Ireland. The cluster will play a pivotal role in developing biorefineries throughout the region. “By utilizing animal waste, we aim to drive innovation to create more renewable biomethane for the consumer and reduce the usage of fossil fuels, which is paramount for reducing our global carbon footprint and GHG emissions, thus benefiting the environment,” said Dr. Patrick Ward, Ph.D., Europe and Asia-Pacific Applications Manager at Alltech. Do we want to live courageous lives or hide in the shadows? Agriculture has the world’s two most important jobs: nourishing the world and preserving our planet for future generations. Effectively communicating about this essential work can be very challenging, as our industry faces misleading headlines and incorrect assumptions about the impact of agriculture on our environment. The fact is our industry isn’t simple, and we are further from consumers than ever at a time when agriculture plays a more critical role in our collective future. This year, we’re shining the spotlight on agriculture’s vital role through our upcoming documentary, World Without Cows. Regardless of the audience’s connection to beef or dairy or agriculture in general, the resounding opinion is clear: the story of animal agriculture needs to be told — and told in a compelling and relatable way. At World Pork Expo a few weeks ago, our team hosted a thought-provoking panel about this very topic with Dr. Frank Mitloehner of UC Davis CLEAR Center; Maria Zieba from the National Pork Producers Council; and Dr. Gordon D. Spronk of PIPESTONE. (Watch it here: https://bit.ly/4cR8Uc0). The panelists highlighted the power of storytelling. I carried this same theme with me this week as I visited team members in Costa Rica, and as I prepare to present Alltech’s new case study on leadership succession to agri-food leaders in Mexico on Thursday at the Capacitación ANFACA-IPADE IN COMPANY event. Next week in Louisville, Kentucky, we will discuss the future of poultry research at the Poultry Science Association’s annual meeting and consider how the themes explored in #WorldWithoutCows relate to the entire agri-food industry. As Dr. Mitloehner said in our panel discussion, we are the subject matter experts, and it is time to tell our incredible story. Our mission is not just about raising awareness — it’s about inspiring and empowering action. The future of agriculture hinges on our ability to innovate and collaborate, ensuring we can sustainably feed a growing global population and combat climate change. But we can’t do it alone. So, for those who wish to join us in advocating for science, sustainability and telling the stories of the agri-food sector, consider this your invitation to help us start the conversation around World Without Cows. Join us in congratulating the graduating class of our Alltech Mini-MBA program! On Friday, we wrapped up the 25th edition of our Alltech Mini-MBA program at UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School at University College Dublin in Ireland, with group presentations to Alltech leadership from both the first- and fourth-year students. Established in the year 2000, the Mini-MBA is a rigorous learning opportunity for Alltech team members from throughout the business and every region of the globe. Over the course of the four-year program, participants learn about business and agri-business from experts like Damien McLoughlin, the Anthony C. Cunningham Professor of Marketing at UCD and a longtime friend of Alltech. Participants benefit from direct mentorship from senior Alltech leadership, receiving instruction in modern business skills and knowledge, conducting field visits to local businesses, reading and discussing case studies, and participating in group projects that emphasize and reinforce the power of teamwork.
