This #WorldTBDay, we reaffirm our commitment to support the ambitious vision of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) of eliminating TB and ensuring a TB-free India. #TBharegaDeshJeetega TB remains one of the deadliest infectious diseases worldwide and India, under the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has made remarkable strides in combating this deadly disease through the National TB Elimination Program. The country’s rapid scale-up of indigenous molecular tests, adoption of improved treatment regimens, nutritional support of INR 1000 (US$11.188) to all TB patients per month, and adoption of AI-enabled-digital-chest x-rays for active case finding are all far-reaching evidence-based interventions that could inform elimination strategies across other high burden countries in the global south. We, at Clinton Health Access Initiative, are privileged to, through our affiliate William J. Clinton Foundation, support innovations in strengthening early detection efforts under the leadership of the Central TB Division, MoHFW. We are particularly proud of our efforts in supporting the scale-up of AI-powered chest X-rays for rapid diagnosis of both symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals; between April 2023 and January 2025, we have organized over 10,000 health camps across 11 states, screening over seven lakh (700,000) individuals in high-risk communities. In the coming months, we also look forward to supporting the scale up of Tuberculosis Preventive Treatment for children and household contacts of TB patients in the states of UP and Bihar, which would help develop evidence and strategies for preventing the spread of the disease across high-burden countries. By leveraging AI for TB detection, treatment, and prevention, we are moving closer to a #TBFreeIndia. #TogetherAgainstTB #WorldTBDay Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)

Now in its second year, Africa's first regional oxygen manufacturing initiative is expected to triple oxygen production and reduce oxygen prices by over 25%. Funded by Unitaid through a blended financing model, the initiative has now expanded to Tanzania, following its launch last year in Kenya. His Excellency Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa attended the official groundbreaking ceremony in Dar es Salaam. “Expanding local oxygen production is a crucial step toward ensuring no patient goes without this lifesaving resource,” said Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa. “This investment enhances our ability to meet growing demand, making our supply more self-sufficient, and reducing reliance on external sources." The regional oxygen manufacturing initiative will use a hub-and-spoke model, where central production sites (hubs) will distribute oxygen to smaller facilities (spokes), ensuring wider oxygen access. The manufacturing network will create a steady and reliable supply of oxygen in the region and beyond. “Expanding regional oxygen production is a vital step toward stronger, more resilient health systems,” said Esther Mtumbuka, CHAI Tanzania Country Director. “By working with the Tanzanian Ministry of Health and Unitaid, and leveraging innovative financing, we are building a sustainable, locally driven oxygen supply—one that ensures facilities have reliable, affordable access now and in the future.” Learn more: https://ow.ly/AnaW50Vm7lm #InvestInOxygen #OxygenAccess #HealthForAll #UHC
