About us

Our vision for Mablethorpe and Skegness is that they will make their distinctive contributions to a Connected Coast, renewed and refreshed as settlements through a programme which: diversifies their economies, builds their skills base and establishes them as national test beds for future living and natural resource management. They will become places where positive ageing, a cutting edge approach to tourism and innovation around energy and water management turn current weaknesses into nationally significant strengths.

Cllr Gray, along with the council’s Healthy Living Manager Roxanne Warrick, and Claire Woodward, Director for Community Investment at Acis, also took part in some filming at the Campus to help update residents, businesses on stakeholders on the ongoing work in preparing the Campus for opening later this year. Look out for those video clips very soon 📹 The Campus for Future Living is working with local, regional and national partners to bring new services, research, education and skills opportunities to benefit the lives of Mablethorpe people and the surrounding area. Cllr William Gray said: “I am amazed by the amount of progress being made – it looks so different from just a few weeks ago when I last visited for the Mablethorpe Exhibition Event with the Connected Coast Board. “The Campus is no longer a shell of a building – there are so many rooms taking shape, all earmarked for great uses from classrooms, wellbeing, collaborative working areas, event space and a café. With every visit, it always looks different. “When you are inside, you can now visualise how the building will come alive and how each room will be used. “It really is exciting and to think in just a few months it will be open, bringing people together with new opportunities that will enrich their lives is so many ways.” Connected Coast

Councillors and officers from East Lindsey welcomed Rt Hon Victoria Atkins, MP for Louth and Horncastle and invited guests to mark the ‘topping out’ - a milestone in the construction of Seaview Colonnade at Sutton on Sea 🌊 They were joined by district and county councillors, Connected Coast, and other partners to see the progress being made. During the visit, guests enjoyed the amazing scenic views the Seaview Colonnade offers of the Lincolnshire coast and Sutton on Sea. Victoria Atkins MP also secured the final panel on to the balcony to mark the occasion. The works will provide residents and visitors with a new state-of-the-art pavilion, with opportunities for a café and restaurant and cultural based uses, a Changing Places toilet and exhibition space. New beach huts will also be included as part of this phase of the works, as well as enhancements to the Pleasure Gardens to create additional seating areas and a new play area. Cllr Martin Foster, Political Lead for the Colonnade at East Lindsey District Council, said: “These state-of-the-art facilities will bring new tourism and income for Sutton on Sea, creating new jobs and opportunities, and providing residents and visitors with a place to view our stunning coastline. “The Colonnade is also pivotal for the Council’s National Portfolio Organisation programme, funded by Arts Council England, providing a centrepiece for arts and culture in East Lindsey. The new building will provide a creative focal point to support events and activities around arts and culture. "I would like to thank contractors GF Tomlinson for hosting this event to mark this milestone on the construction phase.” Cllr Craig Leyland, Leader of East Lindsey District Council, said: “It was fantastic to visit the Seaview Colonnade where the ambition for what this fantastic facility will provide for Sutton on Sea as the centre for arts and culture in East Lindsey is now being realised. From Government funding and working closely with our partners, we are seeing transformational change, bringing new services and facilities in this area of the Lincolnshire coast which has for too long been overlooked.” Victoria Atkins MP said: “The Sutton on Sea Colonnade will be an asset to our community and coastline. This is why, alongside my ELDC and LCC colleagues, I've fought for investment so it could be rebuilt for future generations to use. “I was delighted to attend the Topping Out Ceremony of the new building and it was exciting to hear that it won't be long before the project is complete and open for everyone to enjoy.” G F Tomlinson
