Join us for a tour of our 2023 BEYOND away winner! Hacienda Heights now (and again) provides homes, indoor amenities, and outdoor active spaces for low-income seniors within walking distance of the Richmond Transit Station. Originally completed in 1966 as public housing, the project would eventually close due to compounded neglect. The project’s reinvestment is a long-awaited revitalization not only for the 150-home community, but for the broader neighborhood in downtown Richmond. Register here: https://lnkd.in/gpYDPg2j

Building permits have been submitted for 1701 San Pablo Ave in Berkeley! The educator housing for BERKELEY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT will be a transformational new multifamily residence for the region. The project, whose 0.78-acre site is shared with the Berkeley Adult School, will create 109 affordable homes for teachers, school district staff, and their families, and will contribute to San Pablo Avenue’s transformation into a transit-oriented mixed-use corridor, taking further advantage of its proximity to BART, bikeways, and bus routes. California’s density bonus was utilized to maximize unit count while preserving surface parking for BAS and employing massing that respects the adjacent single-family neighborhood. 1701 San Pablo is co-developed by Satellite Affordable Housing Associates (SAHA) and Abode Communities, and is expected to enter construction in early 2025.

By PYATOK, “The Laureate creates new, market-rate student housing on Berkeley’s renowned Telegraph Avenue, within a seven-minute walk from the Cal campus. The project responds to its bustling location with ground floor community retail and live/work lofts, and facilitates a transition of activity between commercial and residential environments. From its prominent corner site, the project helps establish a new gateway to the Telegraph corridor and the campus beyond. The Laureate takes character and programming cues from the 70s-era food hall that had previously occupied the site (itself the adaptive reuse of a car dealership).”#aiaebdesignawards #aia #architecture #design

On May 21st, we gathered our partners and stakeholders to celebrate the groundbreaking of our newest building, which will expand our campus in Oakland’s Fruitvale Neighborhood. We were grateful to be joined by Mayor Sheng Thao, Councilmember Noel Gallo our key partner in this project — Satellite Affordable Housing Associates (SAHA) and our donors, including Sutter Health. We extend our deepest gratitude as well to our entire development team—from the architects and contractors Nibbi Brothers General Contractors to the engineers and public artists.
