🌟 We are energized by the groundbreaking discussions at our Berlin event, "New Solidarity for an AI-Disrupted Economy," organized with Global Solutions Initiative and Sciences Po! RxC, GSI, and SP are working on an official paper presenting recommendations and a roadmap to be presented at the AI Action Summit in Paris (Présidence de la République) and its side events, in addition to subsequent intergovernmental gatherings like the G7 and G20. We are looking for coalition builders — folks who are building new forms of solidarity with a focus on collective-bargaining power. Our conversations focused on the following questions: ▪️How can workers and labor organizers be equipped with tools and strategies to respond to disruptions from data usage and AI in the workplace? ▪️How can data market reform or other pro-labor policies make their way into the global AI policy agenda? ▪️How to structure a model law that gives trusted data intermediaries a vital role in the data market? ▪️How to prepare new forms of social insurance and capital ownership? A massive thank you to our speakers: Aart Jan De Geus, Hans-Christian Boos, Paul Nemitz, Ana Dujic, Miapetra Kumpula-Natri, Victoria Ivanova, and those speaking on behalf of the organizing committee, Christian Kastrop, Matt Prewitt, and Malik Lakoubay, our MC. The profound insights and wisdom inspired us and fueled the discussions leading into the group sessions. We appreciate the efforts of those who facilitated the groups, including Vidisha Mishra (GSI), Jack Henderson (RxC), Aart Jan De Geus, & Matt Prewitt (RxC), as well as Mateo Rodriguez (GSI) and Malik Lakoubay (RxC), who played key roles in organizing the day’s events. 📢 Welcome to the European City2 Project Linkedin profile❗ 🚀 Last week in Barcelona, the European City² project officially began with a successful kick-off meeting. This initiative brings together #scientists, city governments, #universities, #entrepreneurs, and civil society to tackle the urgent challenges of modern #democracies. 💡 The project leverages real and synthetic data, computational social science, and social choice theory to develop an agent-based simulation environment. Central to the project is the exploration of #QuadraticVoting, a method aimed at improving public good allocation and fostering trust and altruism in governance. Collaborating with #Aarhus, Denmark, as a government partner, the project will integrate mathematical models and adhere to rigorous #GDPR standards to ensure ethical research. 👉 During the meeting, the consortium presented work packages on topics such as #electoralsystem advances, quantum voting models, data synthesis, simulation development, and real-world pilot testing, culminating in actionable policy recommendations. This project seeks to offer transformative tools and insights for strengthening democratic processes in Europe. 💯 Exploring New Solidarity for an AI-Disrupted Economy Yesterday, we hosted an official side event of the upcoming AI Action Summit in partnership with the RadicalxChange Foundation and Sciences Po. The event convened 100 experts, labor organizations, tech leaders, and policymakers at Stiftung Mercator in Berlin. In opening remarks, Christian Kastrop emphasized that the world is at a crossroads in making consequential decisions to ensure AI’s impact is beneficial rather than detrimental. RadicalxChange President Matt Prewitt underlined the need for collective bargaining power to empower the working class, providing a balanced and equitable technological future. 💡In a series of breakout sessions, attendees discussed strategies to equip workers and labor organizers with the tools to navigate AI-driven workplace disruptions. They developed ideas for how pro-labor policies and data market reforms can shape the global AI policy agenda, the role of trusted data intermediaries in new legal frameworks, and the need for innovative social insurance and capital ownership models to secure a fairer future. 👏 A huge thank you to our partners RadicalxChange and SciencesPo, to Stiftung Mercator GmbH for their support, and to all our incredible participants and speakers, including: Ana Dujic, Director-General, Directorate “Digital, Work, Society,” Bundesministerium für Arbeit und Soziales Aart Jan De Geus, Former Minister of Social Affairs and Employment of the Netherlands & Deputy Secretary-General for the OECD Chris Boos, CEO of Almato AI & Former Member of the German Government’s Digital Council Malik Lakoubay, EU Policy & Outreach, RadicalxChange Miapetra Kumpula-Natri, Member of European Parliament & Eduskunta | Riksdagen | Parliament of Finland Paul Nemitz, Principal Adviser on the Digital Transition, European Commission Victoria Ivanova, R&D Strategic Lead, Serpentine Galleries Special kudos to Malik Lakoubay, EU Policy & Outreach Director, RadicalxChange, Jack Henderson, COO at RadicalxChange, Vidisha Mishra, our Director of Outreach and Policy, and Mateo Rodriguez, our Strategic Outreach Manager for making this event a success! 📸 Check out some photo highlights here. 🗓️ Save the date for #GSS2025, where these critical global issues will take center stage. #AIActionSummit #AIdisruptedEconomy #FutureOfWork #EconomicParticipation #Solidarity #LaborRights #DataGovernance #DigitalTransition #PolicyInnovation Agnes Eschment Susanne Staufer Ole Spies Stiftung Mercator GmbH Joanna Bryson G. Empowering Communities Through Art Ownership: Lessons from Argentina At RadicalxChange, we're on a mission to rethink the core building blocks of our society - exploring new models that can unlock more equitable, sustainable, and community-empowering outcomes. And one area we've been particularly excited about is reimagining the traditional paradigm of art ownership. Last week, our EU and LATAM Coordinator Malik Lakoubay had the opportunity to share our work on Partial Common Ownership (PCO) at Hashtag Eutopía in Buenos Aires, Argentina. PCO is a new economic framework that moves beyond absolute private property rights, creating a middle ground between rent and ownership. The key is that artworks are not owned outright by individuals, but instead are passed between temporary "stewards" who have a responsibility to support the communities that the art is connected to. Later this year, some of these community-based artworks will be auctioned off online through the Aerocene Foundation's "Fairclouds" project, with all proceeds going directly to the Salinas Grandes and Laguna de Guayatayoc communities in northern Argentina. These communities have faced devastating impacts from lithium extraction, with their land and water resources being exploited by large corporations. However, through innovative models like PCO, art is being leveraged as a tool for resistance, resilience, and self-determination. We believe this is just the beginning of a new frontier where creativity, technology, and social impact can converge to drive transformative change. If you're interested in learning more or potentially becoming a steward of one of these artworks, be sure to check out cloudcities.org. A huge thanks to Malik and our partners at Serpentine and Aerocene for helping bring this vision to life. We're excited to see what the future holds as we continue to push the boundaries of what's possible. Photos courtesy of Fanny Lakoubay.

Thanks again Democracia en Red and Florencia Caffarone for the organization of this event. Audrey Tang and E. Glen Weyl are a beacon of hope for people around the world trying to re-imagine democracy and rebuild our social fabric. Audrey said it best: « the Plurality book is not just about digital democracy, it needs to be a story that anyone can tell » RadicalxChange Foundation and myself are looking forward to more collaboration with the #plurality community in CABA! Thanks Sebastián Calderón for the enlightening moderation.
