Photos have a unique way of telling stories. In a recent post, Sophia Kianni highlighted photographer Gregg Saggals’s powerful images of strangers surrounded by a week's worth of trash. What message do these photos convey? They remind us of our throw-away culture and the urgent need for systemic change. It prompts us to reflect: How many bags of trash are you discarding? Have you made any environmental changes to reduce waste, like composting or extending the life of your belongings? ____________________ At Time for Better, we understand the power of visual storytelling. We specialize in creative climate communications and consulting. Let's work together to do better for people and the planet. #SmallActions #ClimateSolutions #ClimateAction

📸 The trend of using disposable cameras to capture vintage, grainy images is rising—but so is the environmental cost. These cameras, made from plastic, contribute to the ongoing plastic crisis and are discarded after use, creating unnecessary waste. Enter Paper Shoot Camera 🇨🇦 🇺🇸 🇬🇧! This sustainable, easy-to-use digital camera blends the nostalgia of film with eco-conscious materials, helping you capture moments while staying mindful of the environment. ____________________ At Time for Better, we embrace small actions that make a big difference. 🚆 All aboard the future of green travel! California's first zero-emission train leads toward a cleaner, more sustainable tomorrow. California has recently shared its first-ever zero-emission passenger train. The self-powered train will serve the Arrow line in San Bernardino County. The train is fueled by blue hydrogen, which extracts hydrogen from natural gas but stores the carbon dioxide for other uses. They hope to switch to green hydrogen in the future, a process that wouldn’t create the carbon byproduct. More trains like this around the US would help reduce the country’s carbon emissions in transportation. Sustainable Land Use Environmental Lawyer | Co- Executive Director & Project Manager of Future Generations Tribunal | Media Fellow for Black Girl Environmentalist | Environmental Justice & Climate Communicator
🌟I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be attending the highly anticipated New York Climate Week from the 21st to the 29th! As an Environmental Justice Advocate, Climate Communicator, Storyteller, and Legal Expert, I’ll be diving into some incredible opportunities. I’m particularly excited about leading two events with the Future Generations Tribunal, where we’re making groundbreaking strides in securing rights for future generations and spotlighting Indigenous knowledge. My EJ activism and climate justice advocacy have led me to speak at significant global platforms, including COPs, legal conferences, and previous NYC Climate Weeks. In these spaces, I’ve passionately advocated for intergenerational equity, environmental justice, and the crucial need to secure rights for future generations. I’m eager to continue these conversations and explore new collaborations this year. I’m looking to connect over coffee (or tea!), explore speaking opportunities and panels, and collaborate on artivism, storytelling, and video projects that amplify our shared vision for a just and sustainable future. Looking for opportunities to speak on: 🌱sustainable land use & local government law 🎙️ Storytelling and communications ✨ Climate optimism ⚖️ Human rights law & advocacy 🌍 Environmental justice policy 👥 Securing rights for future generations If you’re attending NY Climate Week or interested in teaming up, contact me at atltoriwhalen@gmail.com. Let’s make this week impactful and unforgettable! #NewYorkClimateWeek #ClimateAction #SustainableLandUse #HumanRights #EnvironmentalJustice #Storytelling #SecuringFutureRights

City lights are casting a long, unintended shadow on our natural world! 🏙️ A recent study has found that streetlights left on all night cause tree leaves to become so tough that insects struggle to eat them, potentially disrupting the food chain. Researchers observed that trees in urban areas, particularly in Beijing, had tougher leaves with fewer signs of insect damage compared to those in rural settings. The study tested two common tree species and found that the more artificial light the trees were exposed to, the tougher their leaves became, likely due to extended photosynthesis. While these tougher leaves may appear aesthetically pleasing, the reduction in insect herbivory could lead to broader ecological consequences, affecting insect populations and the species that rely on them. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gVxwEYPU ________ At Time For Better, we recognize that even the smallest changes in our environment can have far-reaching consequences. It's important to consider more sustainable practices that protect both our urban landscapes and the wildlife that depends on them. We specialize in creative climate communications and consulting. We n believe it’s crucial to raise awareness of how urban environments, can inadvertently affect the natural world. #ClimateCommunication #ClimateSolutions #City #Urban
