This is one close to our hearts. A couple of weeks ago, we had the honor of donating a portion of February's sales proceeds to the Take Control Initiative, the nation's longest running contraceptive access network, also based—like us—in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Doing this work in Oklahoma has a lot of cons. One being that we're not 'networking' at the same pace as the coastal femtech startups are. "That's why start-ups exist in SF, LA, and NYC," we've been told over and over, "not in the midwest." These same people miss the point of why we are doing what we are doing in the first place. The challenge of femtech is in the conversations that are required in order for people--all people across this entire country—to understand deeply the value of a woman's body. 'Group think' isn't our thing. By operating in the buckle of the Bible Belt, we get to learn HOW to have these conversations in a way that is uniquely difficult, where talking about female sexuality is the hardest. "The person who says it can not be done, should not interrupt the person doing it." We have learned so much about how to talk about these subjects face-to-face with "real Americans," and in turn, are developing a super skill set because of it. And, time will tell, but we're betting on more meaningful, more long-lasting impact because of our geography, not in spite of it. We hope you see this reverberate soon more across our brand as the months unfold. We are proud of what we are building, and where we are building it. Thankfully, the word 'orgasm' is translatable across most, if not all, languages. (Orgasmo! אוֹרגַזמָה Orgazm! ओगाज़्म Orgasmus! 性高潮 Orgasme! هزة الجماع) We are building strong blocks to expand the conversation. We had a great time at the International Society for the Study of Womens Sexual Health (ISSWSH) annual meeting last week. We: 1. Welcomed new members to our Consortium and two new members to our Scientific Advisory Board (more on that below). 2. Distributed a poster with the *first* medical illustration of female sexual arousal to healthcare providers. 3. Dined with members of the new vanguard of female sexual medicine. 4. Learned a ton. Thank you to everyone who makes this organization function! And thank you to new and old friends alike. -- The Consortium for the Study of Women’s Sexual Wellness announces the expansion of its Scientific Advisory Board with the addition of two leaders in the field of Female Sexual Medicine and founders and past-presidents of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health, Drs. Irwin Goldstein and Sue Goldstein. Dr. Irwin Goldstein is a world-renowned pioneer, researcher and clinician in FSD. Sue Goldstien is broadly experienced in FSD clinical trials and patient management. These two individuals will join Drs. Alan Altman, Anita Clayton, Cindy Meston, Peter Fodor, James Pfaus, James Simon, Nicole Prause, Raymond Rosen and Sheryl Kingsberg on the SAB. The Mission of the Consortium is to advance science in the field of women’s sexual wellness and facilitate this field to be medical adjacent employing the tools from the field of sexual medicine. No longer will female consumers be denied real science and real efficacy data on products that provides more than a promise.

Today we're launching the Vella Bioscience Consortium for the Study of Women's Sexual Wellness. Wellness products rarely receive the same level of scientific rigor that pharmaceutical products do. This doesn't make much sense. Products that go in and on your body, no matter their classification, should be treated with high levels of scientific rigor. The Consortium aims to makes this a reality by bringing deep medical expertise and scrutinized testing protocols to everything we do at Vella. But this isn't solely about us. The Consortium is an effort to change industries. Here's what we have planned. 1️⃣ Support research, education, and public awareness of female sexual health and wellness. 2️⃣ Bring scientific rigor to the basic science and clinical science research of sexual wellness products, including the utilization of double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trials and the development of an advanced protocol for microbiome safety screening. 3️⃣ Enable healthcare providers and customers to directly access research protocols and validated products for the management of sexual wellness. 4️⃣ Establish a public-facing community of like-minded providers who support women in their sexual journey and difficulties.
