About us
VillageReach is a non-profit global health innovator that develops, tests, implements and scales new solutions to critical health system challenges in low-resource environments, with an emphasis on strengthening the “last mile” of healthcare delivery. VillageReach combines expertise across public health, technology, and business to bring life-saving innovation – new systems, programs and technologies – to scale and sustainability in the world’s most underserved communities. Effective solutions require a deep understanding of local health systems, a diverse set of skills and expertise, and strong relationships on the ground in order to achieve sustainable impact. More than a decade of studying and working in low-resource communities around the globe drives our approach— focus on solutions that address the most critical barriers to improving health outcomes in LMICs: healthcare accessibility, lack of infrastructure, information availability, and human resource constraints.

When VillageReach started in Mozambique in 2000, 160 of every 1,000 kids born died before their 5th birthday. Today, it's less than half that number. That's over 100,000 kids every year who are living today due to advances in access to vaccines, medicines, adequate nutrition, and other interventions. Yet this is not good enough. 60 of every 1,000 kids born still don’t make it to their 5th birthday. The #SDG target is 25 per 1,000 births. As my colleague Theo Chiviru says in his recent blog, the only way we can reach these targets is if we get really focused on addressing inequities in access. And he gives three starting strategies for getting there: ➡ Invest in salaried and skilled community health workers ➡ Invest in integrated supply chains ➡ Amplify community voices in decision-making #responsivePHC in action https://lnkd.in/gCrc3Sbd

🌍 Earlier this month (August), VillageReach and Lwala Community Alliance visited community health promoters (CHPs) in Migori County, Kenya. During the visit, we gained valuable insights into the challenges CHPs face in accessing and managing essential health products. We were inspired by the dedication of these frontline health workers as they received supplies and used them for early disease detection. Their commitment to improving community health through practical advice is commendable. Together, we're working to strengthen the supply chain for community health workers and ensure consistent access to vital health products. Mozambique needs a health surveillance system aligned with global initiatives and efforts that can detect potential public emergencies and respond to them in a timely and effective manner. To reach out this goal MOH led a workshop with its governmental, non-governmental and donners to jointly reflect on through a strengthens, weaknesses opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis of the main components of the health surveillance system in Mozambique and to identify the subsequent steps to strengthen the health surveillance system in Mozambique. #Aida Coelho#Rotafina Donco (Ph.D)#VillageReach#World Health Organization#Centers for Disease Control and Prevention#Africa CDC#Arsenio Manhice#Agnaldo Guambe#Abdul Cassamo#World Vision Moçambique#Angelina Cumba
