HII is proud that two of HII’s advanced capabilities — the Virginia-class submarine USS Delaware (SSN 791), built by Newport News Shipbuilding, A Division of HII, and the REMUS medium unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV), built by HII Unmanned Systems — will be operationally deployed together to enhance the mission capabilities of the US Navy. The Yellow Moray system, which facilitates the end-to-end submarine torpedo tube launch and recovery of a REMUS UUV from Virginia-class submarines, is a game-changer, significantly boosting the operational capabilities of the U.S. Navy's submarines and their contributions to our nation's unified combatant commands worldwide. At HII, we are honored to continue our partnership with the U.S. Navy, increasing national security through the innovative integration of our manned and unmanned systems. Together, we are driving advancements that ensure the safety and effectiveness of our armed forces. 📝Story via Naval News by Dr Lee Willett https://lnkd.in/eyS4Z_fr

Today, Ingalls Shipbuilding, a Division of HII, had the honor of hosting Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition Hon. Nickolas Guertin. While at Ingalls, Secretary Guertin received a first-hand look at the ships currently under construction and had the opportunity to tour guided missile destroyer Ted Stevens (DDG 128) and amphibious assault ship Bougainville (LHA 8). We are proud to support our Navy in providing these platforms in support of global peace and prosperity! “HII’s view is that Australian supply base is highly competent, it just needs to scale. We've had 175 different Australian companies register with us to potentially become suppliers…We've had about 30 different companies begin the qualification process….So I think there's a lot to work with.”   Eric Chewning was recently interviewed for the Australian Strategic Policy Institute's “Stop the World” podcast on the role of industry in the success of AUKUS.

Newport News Shipbuilding, A Division of HII's Shipbuilders Together Realizing Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (STRIDE) ERG hosted a table at the 36th Annual Hampton Roads Pride Fest on Saturday, June 22. 🏳️🌈 Braving a heat index over 100 degrees, almost two dozen shipbuilders represented NNS at Town Point Park in Norfolk, Va. Throughout the day, volunteers led games, played trivia, and interfaced with the community. Talent Acquisition was on site conducting interviews, answering questions, and handing out literature to future shipbuilders. HII would also like to congratulate Jonathan Guthrie, STRIDE Co-Chairperson and Mechanical Engineering student at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va., who was awarded a $10,000 Hampton Roads Pride Scholarship. Congratulations, Jonathan!

As we prepare to celebrate the Independence Day holiday, I invite you to watch this moving guitar performance of the national anthem by one of our own – NNS firefighter and Apprentice School graduate William Davis IV. We filmed him in our shipyard as a symbolic reminder that shipbuilding is more than a job. It’s an honorable and noble calling that directly supports the freedoms we hold so dear. Thank you for keeping our Navy safe and our nation free. Have a happy and safe Fourth of July!
