London retakes crown as most expensive city for construction Quantity surveyors and construction economists from consultancy firm Arcadis have compared construction costs in 100 cities around the world, as they do each year. London is usually near the top of the list and this year comes out as number one – the most expensive city in the world for construction – thanks largely to an increased burden of red tape and regulation imposed by government over the past few years. Watchfield Close, Māngere, is a multi-unit residential complex that provides 19 high-quality, affordable 2, 3, and 4 bedroom homes for families. Developed by New Zealand Housing Foundation, these Homestar-rated homes provide warm, dry living environments with low running costs. Families purchase these homes through a co-ownership programme - https://lnkd.in/ggi_xdiS PJM served as the client-side project manager, providing design, project management, cost control, construction observation, and contract administration services. We were engaged at a critical stage when rising costs and site constraints needed fresh thinking, and conducted a design competition with reputable architects, aiming to optimise the site layout. This process led to and improved design over the initial scheme, the addition of two homes, reduced driveway areas and enhanced development aesthetics, ultimately improving the projects profitability. PJM and NZHF engaged in an ECI (Early Contractor Involvement) process with a preferred civil contractor and builder. This collaboration allowed us to explore time and cost-saving options by leveraging the contractors' expertise in materials, construction staging, and methodology. This approach resulted in additional cost savings and provided early price certainty for our client. Where has the time gone? It only seems like five minutes ago that I was building Lego, drinking egg nog by a roaring fire, and picking pine needles out of my socks. Then, wham, the good old British Summer is here 🌦 , and there's a significant gap in my social media posting. Yep, we've been busy at eatsleepthink developing creative solutions for our eclectic client list. So, it was great to read this fabulous post from Castle Owen Construction and Property Consultants Ltd about the new digital brochure we've built for them. It's an interactive PDF designed to be small enough to add as an email attachment and introduces their business, values, services and key people. It acts as a gateway communication piece. Through links in the copy and specific CTAs (calls to action) buttons, it guides the reader to specific key content on Castle Owen's extensive website, driving extended engagement with the brand. It's designed to funnel readers to core messages, promote engagement, build brand awareness and provoke action. My team and I look forward to hearing how the document performs as it rolls out. The beauty of a digital document such as this is that as Castle Owen gains feedback from customers, the document's contents can be adjusted rapidly and sustainably (no print costs, no recycled waste, less energy, etc.) and updated to fit the needs of the business and its customers. #brochure #architects #graphicdesign #design #sustainable #branding #awareness #digitaldesign Melissa Smith MRICS Matthew Bralsford

Did you know that there are over 2,300 buildings and structures in the City of Vancouver that are recognized for their heritage value? So when we were set to work on a heritage renovation project for an office, we were ready to tackle this opportunity with confidence. As construction management experts in Vancouver, this wasn’t our first time working on a project of this scope. But when it comes to heritage buildings, no two projects are ever quite the same. Here are three lessons that we learned from this particular project: https://lnkd.in/eB52q2b8 #collabmanagement #commercialtenantimprovements #designbuild #commercialconstruction #vancouverconstruction #constructionmanagement #projectmanagement

We are currently overseeing a prestigious ground-up commercial project in Cedar Park, envisioned by our client as a standout development. The project involves designing and building a 40,000-square-foot commercial complex consisting of six retail buildings. Our client provided a conceptual plan and set a challenging deadline of nine months for the design and permit approval process. We successfully submitted the civil submittal to the City for review within four months. Now, we are on track to submit the architectural set within a month. We are confident that we will receive permit approval soon and can begin groundbreaking for this project. Since the project's inception, we have coordinated all teams efficiently to meet the client's requirements within the tight timeframe. By managing teams effectively and ensuring the accuracy of our submissions, we have expedited the permitting process. We have employed the right teams to deliver the design the client expects while ensuring compliance with the authorities' requirements. Our control over the materials used, structural elements, and space utilization ensures that the developers receive the best value for their investment. This holistic approach ensures a successful project that meets the owners' vision and satisfies all stakeholders. As general contractors, we not only execute the construction but also ensure the project aligns with the owner's overall vision, leading to a successful and harmonious outcome.(www.txsparks.com) #CommercialProject #CedarParkDevelopment #GroundUpConstruction #RetailComplex #ProjectManagement #ArchitecturalDesign #PermitApproval #ConstructionSuccess #TeamCoordination #ClientSatisfaction #GeneralContractors #InvestmentValue #StructuralIntegrity #OnTimeDelivery #BuildingExcellence #VisionToReality Ravi Polishetty
