Another SouthPAN (Southern Positioning Augmentation Network) milestone has been reached with two 11-metre satellite dishes hoisted into place at the uplink and ground control centre being constructed at Awarua, Southland in New Zealand. The centre is one of two across the SouthPAN network being built for the New Zealand and Australian Governments. The first opened at Uralla, New South Wales, in December 2023. SouthPAN will improve the accuracy of GPS to less than a metre, down to as little as 10 centimetres, supporting businesses and industries that rely on precise location data. SouthPAN is a partnership between Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) and Geoscience Australia. SouthPAN is expected to have economic benefits of $7.6 billion over 30 years for Australia and New Zealand. Learn more here: https://lmt.co/3UVlvVO

Rain or shine, fair or gale..... our two #FLiDAR buoys have been out there collecting data on #Wind and the #MetOcean #Environment in the #CelticSea. The aim is to accelerate development of #FloatingWind through a #RegionalWindProfileModel. Brilliantly, twenty prospective developers have been corralled to work collectively through this program. Reduction of costs, risks, delays and carbon is in the interest of us all. #RaiseTheBar #Cooperation Initiated through #ERDF #CornwallFLOWAccelerator and led by Farrington Neil and Wribhu Ghosh, the concept is now expanding... Mitigating Debris Flow in the Mountainous Region of North-Central Luzon, Philippines The Pan-Philippine Highway, spanning 3300 kilometers, serves as a vital link between Luzon, Samar, Leyte, and Mindanao. Dalton Pass, nestled within this network, faces recurrent closures due to debris flow, posing risks to commuters with limited alternative routes. To address this challenge, Rebtrade International Corporation introduced the TECCO® Mesh System by Geobrugg, stabilizing slopes and preventing debris flow. Complemented by the Geobrugg Debris Barriers, the solution has effectively safeguarded Dalton Pass, ensuring uninterrupted traffic flow and enhancing the surrounding ecosystem. In summary, the TECCO® System, alongside Geobrugg's debris flow barriers, has emerged as a crucial defense mechanism, securing Dalton Pass against the threat of debris flow and ensuring safe passage for travelers.

Just when we thought we were heading towards "normality" in shipping windows in 2024, recent events in the Red Sea are having an impact. Some carriers have already introduced forced Majeure measures & implemented surcharges of US$1,500 /per container South/North bound cargo to/from Oceania. With the Panama Canal Authority also due to cut the daily activity in vessels by half in Feb 2024 we anticipate further disruptions, putting yet more pressure on schedules combined with port congestion this will create a demand and supply crisis. History has shown us what just 1 week of disruption can do to one of the world's key supply chain arteries when Ever Given blocked the Suez Canal in 2021. Shippers must prepare for a worst-case scenario and commence looking at contingency plans now. C.H. Robinson is here to guide you through these extraordinary challenges and ensure your supply chain remains strong.
In the last week, 25+ vessels have been diverted around the Cape of Good Hope. Read our new client advisory for more on the evolving situation in the Red Sea and Suez Canal ➡️ http://ms.spr.ly/6046ibQlI #RedSea #SuezCanal

#RFMISO -Waveguide Corner- The function of the curved waveguide is to change the direction of energy transmission. There are two kinds of curved waveguides: one is the front curved waveguide, and the other is the H-plane curved waveguide. The characteristic impedance of the curved part of the waveguide changes, and the smaller the curvature radius, the greater the change. #antenna #waveguide #waveguidecorner
