Just reading the interesting EU report Monitoring the twin transition of industrial ecosystems, AGRI-FOOD. It seems things are picking up - at least in many parts of Europe. But I need to bash my home, Sweden. With some of the best pre-conditions around for making a transition into the next gen food system nothing much happens under the current government and its so-called innovation authorities. Do take a look at this picture, Vinnova, and explain to me how on Earth this can be the case in 2024. Any basic strategic insights you would like to share that can motivate this glaring absence of focus on one of the main topics of our time? https://lnkd.in/d3WKywnp

Day one and done! What a first day packed with insights and fascinating innovations across the sector...so what are some of today’s key takeaways? 🌊 From Bridget Wilson: To use the 17 Sustainable Development Goals as a tool to communicate the industry’s achievements. It will take time and effort, but change is possible. 🌊 Vangelis Vitalis reminded us to diversify our export portfolios and to make sure you’re taking advantage of the trade agreements negotiated on your behalf...and to tick the box that says you are opting IN to New Zealand’s free trade agreement preference! 🌊 Data can help us tell our story and foster international collaboration. Angela Williamson and Veronica Papacosta showed us through Futures of Seafood how collaboration and good data can inform science-backed decision making. 🌊 And Josh Donker of Motueka Nets and Rui Peng of Critical. are proof that when industry and startups work together, innovative solutions are possible. Now it’s off to the WISA Happy Hour before we all get an early night 😉 to be ready for tomorrow’s lineup of amazing speakers. #seafoodnz #championsofsustainability #seafoodconference2024

💡 "The world’s GDP is dependent on nature" means that the overall wealth and economic well-being of the world (Gross Domestic Product or GDP) are closely tied to the health and sustainability of the natural environment. Many economic activities, such as agriculture, forestry, and fishing, directly depend on nature. Additionally, ecosystems provide essential services like clean air, water purification, and climate regulation, which indirectly support economic activities. Therefore, the state of the environment significantly influences the global economy. Recognizing and managing this relationship is crucial for achieving sustainable and resilient economic development. #environmentalsustainability #economies
The world’s GDP is dependent on nature 💰🌳 That’s why major businesses, including the likes of Salesforce, Holcim and Unilever, are publishing nature-positive strategies. The World Economic Forum’s annual meeting this week in #Davos is a key moment for leaders to discuss how businesses can take measurable action on nature. Marco Lambertini and Eva Zabey set the scene in this Reuters op-ed: https://lnkd.in/e6PUTyEg #NaturePositive #WEF24
