Important Announcement: Cancellation of Australia Day 2025 Event The City of Armadale has made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel the Australia Day 2025 event and fireworks. This decision comes in light of the Metronet Byford Rail Extension works, which will significantly impact the areas around Minnawarra Park and Armadale Road in January 2025, making it unsafe for large public gatherings. Our team explored various alternative locations and event formats, but after thorough consideration, the Council concluded that cancelling the 2025 event is the best option to ensure the safety and integrity of our celebrations. We plan to utilise the funds reserved for 2025 to host an even bigger and better event in 2026, welcoming everyone back to the City Centre. Mayor Ruth Butterfield stated, "The City recognises the continuing popularity of our Australia Day Event, and we want to ensure this annual feature is the best that we can offer. The unavoidable works around Minnawarra Park meant we had to look at alternative arrangements, and as a Council, we decided that cancelling the 2025 event was the best option under the circumstances. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2026." We understand this news may be disappointing, and we appreciate your understanding and support. For more details on this decision and the proposed alternatives, please refer to the Council minutes available on our website at https://buff.ly/3Xw853R. #CityOfArmadale #AustraliaDay2025 #CommunityUpdate #MetronetWorks #PublicSafety

Compassionate Cuppa recently attended a 'Co-Production Session' at Southampton Voluntary Services. We are very grateful to Rebecca Kinge for co-ordinating the event 💜 We wanted to involve others in the development of Compassionate Cuppa's Calm Area provision. This is to help conferences and community events be more inclusive and accessible. Calm Areas may alternatively be called Quiet Spaces. We've called them Calm Areas because conveys the purpose of the space - whether you experience stress, overwhelm or sensory overload, it's a safe space to be supported to find your calm. 🌸 The provision of a Calm Area is far from mainstream. If you went to an event, do you think having access to one would be beneficial for you? Could this be the difference between attending an event and leaving early, or not going at all? Please leave any comments below 👇 or DM us 💜 Image Description: At the top is the title Calm Area Have a cuppa here on us. In the middle shows an ideas board with various project ideas written down. On the bottom right are the hashtags CalmArea, InclusiveSpaces and EmpathyInAction. On the bottom right is the Compassionate Cuppa logo. #CompassionateCuppa #CalmArea #InclusiveSpaces #AccessibleEvents #CoProductionSession #CommunitySupport #QuietSpaces #SupportiveEnvironment #EventInclusion #CalmnessMatters #SafeSpaces #EventAccessibility #SupportForAll #CalmAreaProvision #EmpathyInAction

Well done for advertising these amazing facilities, we’re seeing them pop-up at so many key attractions👏👏 As part of Destination North East England #accessibility and #inclusion initiative (coordinated by NewcastleGateshead Initiative, Visit County Durham and Visit Northumberland LVEP (DMO)) 3D Virtual Spaces is adding 360 images into virtual models showing what facilities are available in the Changing Places UK space. This is good information to have from an accessibility perspective, but also acts as a great virtual “familiarisation tool”, helping neurodivergent people who want to understand what the space will look like in advance, reducing anxiety when they physically visit. Here’s an example👍 https://lnkd.in/eSHTrmMi
Today (19 July) marks National Changing Places UK Awareness Day. It is an opportunity to help raise vital awareness of the life changing difference Changing Places toilets make to peoples lives. Changing Places installs accessible toilets in public venues to allow everyone to be able to use the toilet facilities with ease and dignity.
