Throwback Thursday! The seventh annual San Diego Innovation Council (SDIC) Annual Showcase was an in-person event on May 22, 2024, at Scripps Research Auditorium. Our very own Jungwoo Lee presented on South 8 Technologies’ Commercialization Success Story. The SDIC presents innovations created at top academic centers in San Diego and Southern California. These academic centers come together annually to present investment opportunities, commercialization success stories, and opportunities to develop new enterprises based on technologies developed by their researchers. We are conducting joint research in the ERDF-funded project "𝗣𝗢𝘅𝗜𝗥: 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝘆𝗰𝗿𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗢𝘅𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗜𝗥 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗥 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿". Our goal until September 2026: The development of an IR window and its integration into an IR sensor, based on materials and manufacturing processes that are characterized as resource-saving and environmentally friendly. The funding is provided by the Free State of Thuringia's Research, Technology and Innovation (RTI) program under the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Promising initial approaches have already been developed in the first months of the project. Excited to share a recent short-term scientific mission focused on antimony chalcogenides! Thanks to the ReNew-PV COST Action program, I participated in a mission to IREC - Institut de Recerca en Energia de Catalunya and Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. The objective? To delve into the structural, morphological, and electrical properties of Sb2S3 thin films, specifically exploring their potential for indoor and outdoor photovoltaic applications. ☀ Both IREC and UPC impressed me immensely. They boasted cutting-edge facilities and a team of brilliant researchers. The collaborative spirit fostered by ReNew-PV led to a fruitful visit, and we're currently processing the data from our joint research!
