Each day, I am inspired by the innovative spirit, resilience, and determination of my fellow female engineers. We are breaking barriers, challenging stereotypes, and proving that gender is no limit to greatness. Some of the strongest characters I know, and have worked with (in the Royal Navy and on this side of the fence), are women that have followed the engineering pathway. June 23 is International Woman in Engineering Day. Fluor Corporation celebrates it by featuring female engineers around the globe providing encouraging advice to those young women who wish to pursue a career in engineering. This is mine: A career in Engineering offers endless possibilities. Working as an Engineer allows you to develop technical skills but also analytical thinking and managerial capabilities. Get started choosing the engineering branch that makes you more excited, because then the path to success will be half paved with passion already. Build on your strengths and keep always learning and enhancing your personal skillset. Development opportunities will cross your way in multiple directions, make your career choices from within, following a path that makes you grow but foremost makes you happy. Own your career.

On this International Women's Day, we're celebrating the women of Conplant Pty Ltd while acknowledging the incredible strides women have made in construction and engineering! While we've seen progress in educational attainment, there's still room to grow in closing the gap between women in construction and engineering education and their representation in the professional workforce. Despite comprising 20-25% of undergraduate engineering students in Australia, only about 13% of practicing engineers are women, according to Engineers Australia. Globally, women account for only around 10-20% of engineers, according to UNESCO. But here's the positive spin: we recognise the challenge, and we're committed to addressing it head-on!
