Safety is our top priority. That's why we're providing first responders with the education and resources they need to be prepared to address emergency situations. We teamed up with Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service - TEEX and the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF STATE FIRE MARSHALS to develop this unique training opportunity in 2019. Since then, we've helped train more than 850 local and regional emergency first responders at no cost to them. This program provides classroom instruction and hands-on training, dealing with simulations of the most relevant pipeline and storage tank emergency scenarios including an industry-first simulated CO₂ pipeline release. https://lnkd.in/gjhXQ5Z2

Educating our youth on the importance of STEM is made possible through the support of many individuals and organizations. The Tapia Center STEM CCS camp that took place this summer at Jackson State University focused on why effective carbon capture and storage is important, an initiative that EMPCo is proud to support. We also recognize the community leaders who dedicate their time and expertise so the high school students who attended this camp can discover and learn new skills for the future. https://lnkd.in/gW7m8gHY

Thank you to Jefferson County ESD#3 Fire Chief Jody Herrera for inviting us to National Night Out in Jefferson County last week. The event allowed us to present our mobile first responder training unit - an enhanced mobile resource that brings CO₂ response training to fire departments along our routes - to more than 100 first responders, officials, and community members. A special thank you to Nome Mayor Kerry Abney for taking the time to tour our mobile training unit and to all the first responders in Jefferson County! We are committed to helping support our first responders with the tools, training, and resources they need. Thank you to Jackson State University President Dr. Marcus Thompson and his team for visiting our team at the ExxonMobil Houston Campus last week. JSU’s visit included a tour of our pipeline operations control center (OCC) and provided JSU leadership the opportunity to see firsthand how our team maintains an unwavering commitment to safe operations in an inclusive work environment. Over the summer, JSU hosted the Tapia Center STEM CCS camp where 150 student campers, administrators, industry employees and community leaders joined with ExxonMobil to raise awareness and educate future energy leaders about effective carbon management strategies. Our Midwest operations have been busy identifying opportunities that support growth, our partners and overall operations. The Des Plaines and Hammond Terminals began projects over the summer that include evaluating and optimizing storage tank configuration, which ultimately will increase volume capacity, making upgrades to pumps and a loading rack, and more. These updates reflect multiple groups at EMPCo coming together to support our operations safely and efficiently.
