The Art Gallery of New South Wales is pleased to announce the third year of support from Apple for the Gallery's Djamu Youth Justice Program. Apple’s community grants provide support for organisations committed to expanding access to economic, educational, and creative opportunities. Since 2017, Djamu Youth Justice has offered a unique project-based model to support Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Great Oceans young people in the NSW Youth Justice system through creating meaningful connections to art and culture. Forging positive relationships between these young people and members of First Nations arts communities, the program provides mentorship and vocational pathways post-release and increases self-esteem, self-discipline and chances of successful rehabilitation The support from Apple has enabled the Gallery to significantly expand the scope of Djamu Youth Justice and demonstrates best-practice strategies in providing access to arts and culture for young people impacted by the Youth Justice System.
