CROC DUNDEE 4K LAUNCH Tourism NT co-presented the premiere of Crocodile Dundee: The Encore Cut at the Westpac Openair Cinema in Sydney on the 23 January 2025. The NT was the hero on the big screen throughout the night, celebrating the epic landscapes and wildlife and of course the larrikin locals. The premiere included a red-carpet gala event with Mick Dundee himself, Paul Hogan and the other original filmmakers. Crocodile Dundee: The Encore Cut is a 4K digital restoration of the original Australian epic to celebrate the 40th year anniversary of when the NT was introduced to the world through the big screen. As a co-presenter, Tourism NT was able to showcase to premiere attendees the accessibility of the NT as a holiday destination to grow the value of the holiday market. Tourism NT in conjunction with Screen Territory, continued to leverage the return of this iconic film to cinema screens with opportunities for locals to also celebrate this important piece of the NT history when Crocodile Dundee: The Encore Cut has its public release. This morning, the magnificent Quantum of the Seas made her maiden arrival in Darwin on a 12-day journey from Singapore to Brisbane, where she’ll homeport for the Australian season. Up to 5,500 passengers and crew stepped ashore to experience the best of the Northern Territory this morning, from thrilling crocodile jumping tours and exploring WWII history at the Defence of Darwin Experience, to admiring stunning murals and Indigenous art at MAGNT. We were lucky to jump onboard for a very special plaque exchange between Darwin Port and Captain, Krzysztof Szynkarczuk. Darwin Port is going from strength to strength with 13 maiden cruise calls scheduled in 2024-25 – proof that the NT is shining as a must-visit destination for global adventurers. The NT cruise industry contributed $181 million in total output and supported 527 jobs across the NT in the last financial year.
