The Institute of Global Health (ISG) was founded in January 2014 as a transformation of the former Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine. This transformation was decided by the University of Geneva as a continuation of efforts to develop academic global health given the unique location of Geneva in the field. Geneva hosts most of the major actors of global health: the World Health Organization, UNAIDS, the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, ICRC, GAVI, FIND, MSF and many other NGOs and foundations, with diplomatic permanent UN representations for more than 140 countries. The creation of the Institute of Global Health was inspired by a shared commitment to foster academic Global Health at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva. It is located in the facilities of Campus Biotech shared by the University of Geneva and Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL).

Titulaire de la Chaire de Gestion des Services de Santé. « Le principe de subsidiarité : un changement radical pour la haute fiabilité des hôpitaux ? » Grâce à l’analyse des processus de prise de décision au sein des hôpitaux depuis l’année 2020, cette conférence propose de discuter le test d’un nouveau design organisationnel, hautement fiable et pragmatique. Celui-ci prend en compte les attentes des professionnels et a comme ambition de mieux affronter les crises à venir grâce à une meilleure appréhension de l’incertitude, au bénéfice de la qualité des soins et de la qualité de vie au travail. Dr Simon Mathias WAELLI, PhD, PD, Chargé de recherche et 'enseignement, Maître de conférences, Institut de santé globale, Université de Genève. «Manager au doigt mouillé ; Une étude des besoins de connaissances exprimés par les managers des organisations de santé en Suisse» Dans le cadre des formations en management des organisations de santé de l'ISG, nous réalisons une évaluation des besoins de connaissance exprimés par les cadres des organisations de santé en suisse. Les (tout) premiers résultats d'une revue de littérature et de 20 entretiens indiquent déjà un décalage entre le développement des recherches en management et les attentes des acteurs sur le terrain. Ils font aussi émerger un intérêt grandissant pour le principe de subsidiarité dont la mise en oeuvre est limitée par la structure traditionnelle des institutions.
