🎓 Celebrating Graduates from InZone’s Community Health Programme in Diffa We are delighted to celebrate 14 new graduates from our Certificate of Open Studies in Community Health in Diffa! Hailing from Nigeria, the students have successfully completed their training, gaining essential skills in community health and addressing emerging challenges in humanitarian settings, such as climate change and mental health. 🌍 Why Diffa? Diffa is a unique and challenging environment—1,500 km from Niamey, at the crossroads of Nigeria and Chad, an area deeply affected by desertification and ongoing displacement due to Boko Haram violence. With limited educational opportunities for refugee students (many of whom are anglophone with little or no French), InZone’s hub, launched in September 2023 at the University of Diffa, with support from UNHCR, provides a new learning and practice space, keeping students closely connected to local communities. We celebrate our graduates’ determination and professionalism! We extend our gratitude to our partners, UNHCR & University of Diffa for their crucial support and Yara for operational collaboration. #CommunityHealth #EducationForAll #Highereducation #Refugees #InZone Karl Blanchet Thierry Agagliate

Congratulation to Toolkit iSkill for the great vocational training programs designed and implemented for refugees of Kakuma! a great complementarity with our academics programs and a great exemple of equitable cross-sector partnership!
𝗖𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗥𝗘𝗙𝗨𝗚𝗘𝗘 𝗪𝗢𝗠𝗘𝗡 𝗦𝗢𝗟𝗔𝗥 𝗧𝗘𝗖𝗛𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗡𝗦 𝗜𝗡 𝗞𝗔𝗞𝗨𝗠𝗔 𝗥𝗘𝗙𝗨𝗚𝗘𝗘 𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗣 We are thrilled to announce the successful graduation of Solar Refugee Women Technicians in Kakuma. This represents another milestone in our belief that the latest technologies will transform youth in Africa into a globally competitive workforce. At a colourful graduation ceremony attended by humanitarian partners including Danish Refugee Council / Dansk Flygtningehjælp Council and Jesuit Refugee Service, as well as refugee-led solar organisations—including Ashden Awardees—the young refugee women proudly demonstrated that they are ready to take on solar jobs in Kakuma and beyond. We were honoured by the presence of two influential global champions in climate solutions, Sarah Butler-Sloss, Founder & Chair of Ashden, and Dr. Rebekah Shirley, Ph.D., Deputy Director for Africa at the World Resources Institute. They were joined by past #AshdenAwardees, who shared their journeys, inspiring graduates to aim for the #AshdenAwards. This initiative, which empowers refugees in Kakuma with skills in solar technology, has ensured that mini-grid installers no longer have to source technicians from Nairobi. The Toolkit Foundation (TTF) has been skilling refugees in Kakuma since 2022, with the French Embassy in Nairobi supporting the first training. Since then, graduates have installed solar projects in Kakuma, Kalobeyei, and beyond. In 2023, we upskilled 12 young women to become trainers, and they joined the refugee-led #OkapiGreen, where they contributed to installations and trained other refugees. Today, Okapi Green has connected 200 businesses to its mini-grid—a testament to the impact of refugee-led clean energy solutions. This achievement marks a crucial step in bridging the gender gap in energy and fostering inclusive, equitable opportunities for women in clean energy. We deeply appreciate our partners for their steadfast support in this initiative. Special thanks to UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency for supporting mobilisation and verification of trainees, University of Geneva for co-hosting the Kakuma training centre InZone with Toolkit, and the France Éducation international & #ADESK project for upskilling our instructors. To all companies in Kakuma giving jobs to solar technicians directly or indirectly—we salute you: Renewvia Energy, Okapi Green, GIZ Kenya, and more! The impact we are making in Kakuma is thanks to our own team and the incredible teams from our partners: Jane Muigai Kamphuis, Hosea Mugera, Benard Muindi, Wangari Muriithi, Bernard Clouteau, Christophe NOVET, Adrien Arrous, Thierry Agagliate, @Lou Pisani. Congratulations to all the graduates—your dedication is truly inspiring! #TheToolkitFoundation #WomenInEnergy #SolarUpskilling #RenewableEnergy #SustainableDevelopment #GenderEquality #EmpoweringCommunities #CleanEnergy #InZone #UniversityOfGeneva #ADESK #Ashden #AshdenAwards

Over the past two days, Global University Academy partners discussed a new educational model that will provide greater access to higher education for refugees and internally displaced people. Through the discussions, we: 🔹 Built a shared understanding of the challenges, informed by an informative presentation from Frankie Randle at the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency 🔹Defined the change we want to create, envisioning a future where higher education becomes a transformative opportunity for many more. 🔹Explored context-specific entry points that will guide the design of the Global University Academy model and offers. 🔹Developed actionable steps to turn our vision into reality, starting with our pilot projects in 2026. A big thanks to everyone who contributed their expertise, passion, and creativity, and particularly to Thierry Agagliate, Hilde Spjelkavik Kveseth and Catherine Dixon for planning and facilitating the workshop. 🎥✨ Creativity and collaboration in fragile settings 🌍📸 At InZone, we recognize that education and storytelling can provide valuable tools for resilience and self-expression, even in the most challenging contexts. That’s why we launched the Social Media Collaborative Content Creation Program across our three learning centres - Kakuma Refugee Camp (Kenya), Azraq Refugee Camp, (Jordan), Niamey and Diffa (Niger). Over the course of 8 months, a diverse group of refugee students from these regions collaborated to develop essential skills for audiovisual content creation, guided remotely by expert trainers. They gained hands-on experience in: 🎯 Content creation planning 🎤 Interview techniques 📷 Photojournalism 📖 Storytelling The students produced captivating content, showcasing their cultures, communities, and the creativity that defines their experiences. A selection of their work will soon be featured on our new Instagram page, launching this January! ➡️ Watch this space for more updates! 🌍 Fostering refugee students' language skills through university engagement 💬 Thanks to the 4 EU+ Alliance, we’re thrilled to announce a recent partnership with the University of Milan. This agreement allows BA and MA students in foreign languages to become online language tutors for InZone's Language Learning programme, which is rolled out in Azraq Camp, Jordan and Niamey, Niger. Not only will these students help refugee learners, but they will also receive academic credits for their important work! 🎓 The agreement enables us to collaborate with undergraduates who have outstanding language skills and a passion for supporting refugee learners, all the while honing their tutoring expertise. ✍️ The InZone tutoring scheme, established in 2020, has already involved 60+ volunteer tutors from 13 countries who have supported more than 200 English learners in camps. Are you curious? 🤔 Check out the link below. Applications are open year-round to join our English or French tutoring team! https://lnkd.in/esu469Rt #LanguageTutoring #4EUAlliance #EducationForAll Prof Karl Blanchet Thierry Agagliate 4EU+ Alliance Università degli Studi di Milano

📚 #ÉducationPourTous #Réfugiés #InZone #DELF #Francophonie #OpportunitésÉducatives Prof Karl Blanchet Thierry Agagliate World University Service of Canada (WUSC - EUMC)
