The UZH Innovation Hub is the platform for innovation and entrepreneurship at the University of Zurich.
Info
Innovation at the University of Zurich has a long tradition: basic research is the ideal ground for discoveries and innovative inventions. 13 Nobel Prize winners of the UZH have changed the world with their scientific achievements. And even today, numerous inventions from the university's various disciplines successfully lead to new products, services and applications for the benefit of society. The innovative strength of the UZH is reflected not least in its manifold research collaborations with business and industry partners as well as more than 300 active licenses. And every 2 months a spin-off company is founded. To promote innovation and entrepreneurship even more systematically in the future, the UZH Innovation Hub serves the central platform for innovation and entrepreneurship at the University of Zurich. One goal of the UZH Innovation Hub is to boost intense innovation activity, such as the clusters Biomedicine and Life sciences, Digitalization, Space & Aviation, Research Infrastructure – with other strategic theme clusters to follow. The second goal is to assist UZH students and researchers to turn innovative ideas into a venture. To do so various building blocks are decisive: Skills & Knowledge, Infrastructure, Network & Advice and Capital & Financing. Accordingly, there are entrepreneurship programs, trainings as well as advice and consulting services for prospective company founders. Furthermore, in conjunction with specific funding and support, the UZH Innovation Hub seeks to help researchers and students take their first step on the path to starting a company and realizing their entrepreneurial vision.

Tune in to the newest episode of the X-Health.show to learn more about the innovative therapeutics that Dario-Alessandro Dornbierer and his team are bringing forward with the Reconnect Labs, a University of Zurich Spin-off. Dario-Alessandro Dornbierer is an alumnus of the BioEntrepreneurship & Innovation (BEI) program and was supported by the UZH Entrepreneur Fellowship. #uzh #uzhinnovation #psychedelics #anxiety

When will psychedelics change how we treat affective disorders? “The literature suggests that psychedelics induce a very strong and quick relief of symptoms,” Dario-Alessandro Dornbierer , the Chief Scientific Officer and co-founder of Reconnect Labs says on the new X-Health.show. "In different therapeutic areas, with different psychedelic compounds, this seems to be the hallmark of psychedelic effects, that they’re very quick and sustainable.” 🧠 Depression 🧠 Anxiety 🧠 Cocaine Addiction – how much time to free yourself of them? “Typically within hours,” Dario replies. “Within the time of or the duration of the experience symptoms can go down dramatically, and they can stay down for weeks and months in several cases, especially if the entire experience is embedded into a bigger psychotherapeutic framework, and patients have help and support in integrating what was going on during the experience.” Oh, and by the way, contrary to probably the whole world, the research on psychedelics in Switzerland has never stopped. Reconnect Labs is a clinical-stage Swiss startup, a spin-off of the University of Zurich, developing psychedelic medicines for sleep, anxiety, and substance use disorders. Riding on the psychedelics hype, they are preparing their phase 2 clinical studies. Listen to this absolutely fascinating episode covering 👉 how to pass psychedelics through regulatory bodies 👉 the differences between various psychedelics: ayahuasca and DMT, magic mushrooms and psilocybin, LSD, ecstasy and MDMA 👉 the historical baggage of the 60s and 70s 👉 and when will they be available to patients outside of research (spoiler: sooner than you think).
