GOALPrime Organization Nigeria is a policy-driven humanitarian, non-governmental organization that implements its program through revitalized partnership. She is a national non-profit organization with a mandate of making the lives of vulnerable people better in nations. GPON provides a range of services to vulnerable and special needs people, especially in the face of disaster or crises. The organization is presently operating in the Northeastern regional part of Nigeria where we have reached over 1,000,000 lives with integrated services. We are supporting internally displaced persons with emergency relief materials, Child protection services, GBV mitigation Services, Livelihood skill-building, Health services, and Education support services.   • Strengthening Education in Anka LGA: Submission of Notifications for Schools and Camps As part of our ongoing commitment to education in Anka, our team recently submitted official notifications to key authorities for schools and camps set to implement various programs in the area. We began our outreach with a visit to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, where we formally submitted our notifications. Additionally, we met with the Director of Relief and Rehabilitation, Aliyu Umar, at the Zamfara State Emergency Management Agency to align our plans with state emergency management protocols. Our engagements continued with a courtesy visit to the Zamfara State Mass Education Board, where we had the honor of meeting the Executive Secretary, Haj. Zuwairan Abdu Gusau. We also met with the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Prof. Nasir Garba Anka, alongside the Director of Finance and Accounts, Bello S. Bungudu. Their support is invaluable in driving our initiatives forward. We remain dedicated to collaborating with local authorities and stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of our programs.   • Yesterday the GOALPrime Organisation Nigeria (GPON) Zamfara team carried out an official visit to 13 selected schools in Anka Local Government Area (LGA) as part of the ongoing project implementation. The visit focused on key areas to strengthen educational outcomes and student well-being: Engagement with Head Teachers – The team collected enrollment data while assessing attendance trends, retention rates, and barriers to access. Learner Profiling Preparation – School leaders were briefed on the upcoming learner profiling exercise, ensuring they understood its purpose in tailoring educational resources to students' needs. School Clubs Assessment – The team evaluated the presence and functionality of school clubs, gathering insights on student participation and identifying challenges limiting extracurricular activities. Facility Inspection – A crucial part of the visit was assessing gender-segregated latrines and overall hygiene standards to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment, especially for girls. This visit reinforced our commitment to fostering an inclusive and conducive learning environment, ensuring that educational initiatives go beyond academics to support the holistic development of every student in Anka LGA.   • On January 22nd, 2025, GPON teams conducted an impactful training session in Katsina and Zamfara States to boost the capacity of enumerators for comprehensive Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) assessments.   • Empowering Educators in Underserved Communities Today, the GPON team carried out an assessment at Nizzaniya Islamiyya Primary School in Anka LGA, Zamfara State to evaluate the current state of the schools, including student enrollment, classroom conditions, and other critical needs to create a conducive learning environment and enhance access to quality education for vulnerable children. Out of 161 applicants, our goal is to recruit 99 passionate Community Volunteer Teachers (CVTs) to facilitate alternative learning for out-of-school children, provide literacy and numeracy boost to help learners catch up with their peers, and prepare them for reintegration into formal education, 18 facilitators to deliver psychosocial support for children aged 6-12 across target locations and equip parents with positive parenting skills, 5 case workers to provide comprehensive case management services for vulnerable children in Anka LGA. All selected individuals will undergo rigorous training and be equipped with the tools and strategies needed to deliver inclusive, high-quality education and support for the community’s children. Additionally, our team visited IDP camps in Anka, where many children still lack access to education. During these visits, we engaged with families to understand the barriers preventing children from attending school reaffirming our commitment to implement alternative learning opportunities. We are committed to shaping a brighter future for these children, ensuring no one is left behind in their educational journey.   • Last week, we successfully conducted the CVTS assessment test at Musawa LGA, highlighting our commitment to ensuring education for all in Musawa LGA, Katsina State. This initiative is part of our effort to address the shortage of capable teachers in underserved communities. Our goal is to recruit 66 dedicated Community Volunteer Teachers who will bridge the education gap in areas without qualified educators. A total of 120 candidates participated in the assessment test. The next step involves conducting interviews to select the most qualified 66 individuals from across the wards. Once selected, they will undergo comprehensive training to equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to deliver effective teaching and make a lasting impact in their communities.
