Proposals to redevelop The Galleries Shopping Centre in Bristol, to create a residential and commercial led mixed-use development, was unanimously approved by Bristol City Council’s planning committee. AHMM director Steve Taylor said: "A unanimous vote at planning committee is a fantastic endorsement for the Galleries redevelopment project. This decision illustrates the city’s support for the much-needed redevelopment of the Broadmead area and sends a positive message that Bristol is open for business. "The existing multistorey car park and inward-facing shopping centre was inflexibly designed for single use and is therefore unable to support the radical change that is needed to create a new neighbourhood. "We have retained the ground floor, basement, and substructure to make carbon savings where possible, and from that we have created a new, truly mixed-use scheme, that will revitalise the area and bring long-term benefits to the city." Angel Square is rapidly (re)becoming a building now! I visited yesterday to see the amazing progress the team are making. It was my first chance to experience the very special top floor, and also see the beginnings of making the roof terrace at the very top - what a view from up there! Looking forward to completion later this year. Allford Hall Monaghan Morris Tishman Speyer UK McLaren Construction Group FKN GROUP - FKN GROUP - Perfection In Detail https://lnkd.in/eZbyD6nS

Jack’s photography is always far better than mine, but I completely agree with him - Angel Square gets better by the day!

At the end of last year it was exciting to have Stephen Adams, one of Storey's Founding Directors, featured on the latest episode of Propcast by Property Week. Stephen joined experts from Allford Hall Monaghan Morris and British Land to discuss the challenges and opportunities in delivering sustainable Cat A fitouts. At Storey we believe proactive engagement early in the process provides the best, and most sustainable, final result. As Stephen puts it, “one way the industry could shift is by avoiding unnecessary Category A fitouts entirely or consulting occupiers early to ensure the fitout aligns with their requirements.” Listen to the episode to hear more about how the industry can rethink fitouts for a sustainable future. #storeyprojectmanagement #podcast #fitout #sustainability

Our Building Performance Team continued to lead the way in sustainability in 2024. Some of our highlights include: ◻️ AHMM Carbon Emissions Annual Report - We were one of the first large UK practices to publish the upfront carbon data of our built projects alongside our operational emissions. Read the new announcement in the Architects’ Journal: https://lnkd.in/enmKiC_C ◻️ Fit Out // Rip Out - Our research report investigated and quantified the carbon cost of Cat A fit out in the speculative office market, co-authored by AHMM's Dr Craig Robertson and Ella Smith. Ella was a finalist in the Property Week Inspiring Women in Property Awards for her work on the report. ◻️ Regenerative Architecture Index - AHMM is one of the 68 organisations that participated in the inaugural Regenerative Architecture Index launched by Architecture Today and UK Architects Declare, which sets out to benchmark practices’ progress in the move towards regenerative working and projects.
