We're having a productive day today representing UK Rail Research and Innovation Network (UKRRIN) at the Railway Industry Association Unlocking Innovation North West & Central region event. As usual we've already had lots of stimulating conversations and thought of ideas for #research, #development and #innovation for the rail industry. Roger Dixon introduced UKRRIN to the 400-strong registered delegates, with Ana Skarova Robert Hopkin Jenny Illingsworth holding the fort at the exhibition. MoniRail Ltd Mani Entezami Chris Morris Abi Broadley are here too.

It's #graduation day for School of Engineering, University of Birmingham and we are in celebration mode! We've already had #PhD graduations and later this afternoon it will be the turn for our #Masters and #DegreeApprenticeship cohorts. Many congratulations to Adnan Ashraf and Rabee Jibrin two of our first new graduates!

We had a terrific evening yesterday at our second annual Mellitt Memorial Lecture, hosted by Paul Plummer, Edd Stewart and Prof. Jeff Allan. Our speaker was our (previously) very own Clive Roberts now at Durham University who gave us a whistle-stop tour of his 27 years of research here in School of Engineering, University of Birmingham. Many thanks to the approx 70 people who came out on a chilly evening to hear him, catchup with old friends and meet new ones. We're already looking forward to next year! So far he's had lots of interest in our MSc courses and our research. Come and see him on the British Pavilion booth number K24a. He's already caught up with our friends from Department for Business and Trade Simon Burke and Saudi Railway Polytechnic and looking forward to meetings with Saudi Railway Company and taking part in a panel discussion with Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom Andrea Pearson
