A global charity on a mission to end homelessness and change the lives of those affected by it.
About us
Depaul International is the parent charity of the Depaul Group, a group of charities that works across the world with a mission to end homelessness and change the lives of those affected by it. The Depaul Group comprises subsidiary charities in the UK, Ireland, Ukraine, Slovakia, the USA, France and Croatia. Our services range from providing food through low-threshold street outreach projects, facilitating access to legal, social, and healthcare services through day centres and operating emergency and long-term accommodation programmes. Last year, we supported 134,440 individuals, served 10,915,903 meals and provided 627,098 bed-nights. At the heart of the Depaul Group is a commitment to celebrating the potential in people and helping our clients to build positive, sustainable futures independent of homelessness. We work in the spirit of St Vincent de Paul, a major Catholic social reformer in 17th Century France who devoted his life to helping vast numbers of poor, sick and homeless people across Europe.

📍#France When Depaul France launched their new accommodation service, they immediately thought of Brigitte. A regular visitor to their day centre, she had spent 15 years sleeping on the streets. Initially, Brigitte wanted to try living in her new flat for a few days. These days quickly turned into weeks, and before long, a month had passed. Now, Brigitte is settling into her new home, and is still supported by Depaul France staff to ease the transition. Find out more about Depaul France's work in our 2023 Impact Report at bit.ly/dpi-impact

It was fantastic to see young people from our services take part in The Refugee World Cup last month. The five-a-side tournament held in Manchester saw refugees from Sudan, Eritrea, Syria, Vietnam, and Afghanistan competing to win the Cup. The tournament is an initiative run by the Manchester FA that aims to bridge gaps and bring communities together through football. Rebecca Tooth, Progression Coach, from Depaul UK said: "It’s great for the young people. They're extremely passionate about football. It’s a chance for them to expand their social networks. And it's just great for raising awareness.” “We won two games, it was great, and the third one we drew, we did great,” said team captain Joseph. “It was good to come together as friends. We were together in college. So we know each other, that's why we came together because we know each other, we are friendly. We laugh together.” Each group had six teams, with the top two progressing to the quarter finals. Every team played a minimum of five games. Our team won two games, drew one, and lost two, finishing third in their group. 👏

Yesterday, staff, volunteers and trustees from across the Depaul Group came together to celebrate the launch of our 2023 Impact Report. At the webinar, we heard how Depaul supported over 124,800 people globally in 2023. Kathy Johnson spoke about Depaul USA's innovative ROOTS Program, which supports women exiting prison to transition back into society, by providing housing and financial skills workshops. We also heard from Andrew McKnight about Depaul France's new housing programme, which provides those experiencing homelessness with a home of their own. We then looked to the future as we shared our new strategy, which will see us end homelessness for more people in more places. Thank you to our incredible teams across the globe who make all of this work possible👏

We're delighted to announce that our Homeless Health Peer Advocacy (HHPA) Programme, has officially launched in #Cork! 📍 To mark the occasion, and recognise the incredible work of our HHPA Team so far, we held an event in Cork City Hall on Friday which brought together colleagues from across the sector who are passionate about #homelessness, #housing and #health. We were pleased that Minister Colm Burke was able to join us, and share his insights as Minister of State with responsibility for Public Health, Wellbeing and the National Drugs Strategy. Similarly, we were delighted to be joined by the team at Mercy University Hospital, Cork City Council - Comhairle Cathrach Chorcaí and, of course, our partners at Health Service Executive who are wholly committed to the continued success of this programme; thank you all! 💫
