As we bid farewell to #IWD2025, we continue to reflect on the discussions we held at our fishbowl-style conversation event. We spoke about university experiences that shape confidence, leadership paths that don’t always look the same, and the everyday barriers that still slow women down — in studios, on sites and at home. We’ve pulled together a short write-up of the key takeaways and reflections from the day. You can read it here: https://bit.ly/3Y6IY78 Thanks again to everyone who joined us and shared so generously and to the brilliant team behind the scenes.🌟 📷 Jaxon Kelly Robyn Smith, Rotem Lewinsohn, Lorraine Chan, Joe Sweeney, Stephanie Kukulka, Shafia M. , Shaunee Tan , Amanda Leat, Ayo Akinola, Charlotte Wells, Angelica Black #EquityInDesign #WomenInDesign #WomenInArchitecture
About us
Architecture is our core activity and passion. We have been fortunate to build, and continue to build, long-term relationships with demanding design-led professional clients, consultants, contractors and suppliers. We work on projects of all scales and across many typologies from inception to completion. Our urban design and masterplanning work operates at a scale larger than architecture, but is constantly informed by dialogue with the design of buildings, spaces and interiors across the practice. Our team is heavily involved in teaching and research, but our work is grounded in an awareness of the ways in which cities are built: economically, physically and socially. Interiors, in our view, means designing for the productive and enjoyable use of a building. We work across many sectors and typologies some of which can be idiosyncratic. We aim to create a stimulating environment whether the project is an arts centre, a brand new industry or an established corporation’s headquarters. We seek elegant resolutions to the forces, pressures and constrictions that generate the starting point for most projects: the brief. To achieve this, we draw on the considerable experience, ability, energy and enthusiasm of the remarkable group of people who choose to work at the practice, in teams scaled to the project. We enjoy our work.

What do occupiers want from their workspace? And how does this work alongside carbon goals? Kicking off the London Property Alliance (CPA & WPA) panel discussion at Edenica, 100 Fetter Lane — our newly completed workspace in the City of London — an interactive poll involved an audience of 120 professionals on this very question. Responses revealed that #naturallight topped the list of design priorities, while good #transport links ranked highest among desired #amenities. These insights reflect the evolving expectations of workplaces that prioritise #wellbeing, #flexibility and connectivity while aiming for net-zero commitments. Mark Sutton, Senior Associate at Fletcher Priest Architects, expanded on the evolving demand for amenity in workplaces by sharing, “In terms of amenity, each design is unique, it is important to understand and analyse the local context of the location of a particular project. There is also an emerging need to allow for flexibility for different types of amenities at the early design stages, maximising leasing opportunities to allow adaptability to respond to changes in leasing strategies and evolving tenant requirements." Thank you to moderator Nikki Dibley, Helical plc, and our fellow panellists: Kirsty Draper, JLL; Oliver Knight Landsec; and Mark Terndrup, Waterman Group. 📸 1,8,9 Dirk Lindner 📸2-7 Shafia M. #SustainableDesign #NetZero #WorkplaceEvolution #Workplaceamenity

“Britain’s most bike-friendly new town.” That’s how Bloomberg recently described #Waterbeach, our masterplan outside #Cambridge, designed to put people before cars from the outset. Our long-term collaboration with Urban&Civic continues to shape a sustainable new community that rethinks how towns are built. From the start, our approach prioritises: 🚲 Cycle-first design across the entire site 🌳 Green infrastructure and generous parkland 🏗 Reuse of over 98% of materials on site 🏡 A wide range of housing types and community amenities This project is of astonishing size and complexity - a multi-scalar design process in which regional strategy meets individual homes and the experience of everyday life. With #residents soon to start moving into Hamburg's Neuhavn development, we reflect on the design of Europe's largest and possibly most ambitious inner-city development Situated near landmarks such as Herzog & de Meuron’s iconic Elbphilharmonie and the award-winning Baakenpark, the Neuhavn scheme allows residents to live side-by-side with #culture and #nature. The Neuhavn development establishes a benchmark for #urbanliving in Hamburg. The Fletcher Priest-designed buildings are part of a larger site ensemble with buildings designed by Hamburg based DFZ Architekten and BoF Architekten. The development offers a mix of #buildtorent, #affordable and #coliving units, catering to various lifestyles and ensuring that #housing remains affordable for a diverse range of residents. Expansive green spaces and a host of #amenity facilities redefine modern urban living integrated into a #community-focused environment close to Hamburg’s city centre.

Once a passage through London’s ancient walls, Aldersgate Street is steeped in history. Today, its latest transformation sees 150 Aldersgate woven into the city’s evolving landscape and inspired by the neighbouring Barbican estate. The site’s #textile heritage is reflected in the façade’s concrete fins, while artist-designed tiles reimagine Braidwood Passage as a colourful gateway into the Square Mile. A place of movement, creativity, and connection - just as it has always been. A first look at 10 King William Street. 👀 10 King William Street is shaping up to be a standout #workplace in the City of #London, and we’re excited to share these latest images of the project. Located directly above Bank station’s new entrance on Cannon Street, this seven storey office and retail development will bring 139,000 sq ft NIA of premium workspace to the heart of the #SquareMile. Working with Helical plc and Places for London, our design prioritises #sustainability, #wellbeing, and the public realm, targeting the highest ESG accreditations, including BREEAM Outstanding, NABERS 5*, EPC A and WELL Platinum. From generous terraces to an exceptional wellness suite and state of the art facilities for cyclists and commuters, the building’s design considers each touchpoint throughout the working day, ensuring a premium occupier experience. Abchurch Lane, to the eastern side of the building, is being significantly improved to create a better connection to the surrounding area and a destination for occupiers and visitors alike. With McLaren Construction Group as main contractor, the project is set to be completed by the end of 2026. Who do you look up to in your industry? But equally, who’s looking up to you? To mark International Women’s Day, this year we swapped presentations for #conversations. A fishbowl-style discussion in our London studio, where anyone could step in, speak up and share their opinions. We talked about the uneven road to leadership, the weight of expectations on women, and how real change starts with small shifts, from how we mentor students to the way we advocate for each other in practice. A huge thank you to everyone who spoke, listened and participated. A special thank you to our wonderful IWD committee for organising everything.
