Last Friday I had the pleasure of attending the Constructing Excellence National Awards in London and what a night it was. After Winning the Residential Project of the Year and Building Project of the Year at the Regional Constructing Excellence in Wales Awards in Celtic Manor in June, Wood St House in Central Square Cardiff was the UK Winner of the Residential Project of the Year. This Awards is a fantastic achievement and is testament to the hard work of the team in delivering this great project in the heart of Cardiff. Our latest expansion project has officially begun. Yesterday, we laid the foundation stone of a major new expansion at Landquart Fashion Outlet. Set to open in 2026, we are increasing the retail space by almost 5,000 m2, adding 14 new units, and building a new multi-storey car park extending the total parking area to 1,550 spaces. In addition, we’ll be adding more sustainable elements across the centre, including a geothermal system for heating and an underground water tank to collect rainwater. Landquart Fashion Outlet has excelled significantly since we acquired the centre ten years ago with a 76% increase in visitors and a 108% rise in brand sales. Following the win at the BCO last week, we are really proud to announce that Wood Street House has won RICS Award Wales in the Residential Development category. The 318 apartment Build-to-rent scheme was praised for the quality, sustainability and social value it offered to this central part of Cardiff. Congratulations to all those who contributed to the success of this project, including Rightacres, ISG, and all our fellow team members and consultants!

What a fantastic night at the South of England & South Wales British Council for Offices awards dinner last night, enjoying the hospitality of Cardiff’s Coal Exchange to give an opportunity to catch up with the project team – made all the better with our project Calon at The Interchange winning both Corporate Headquarters and the ESG Award categories 🏆. The win means that Calon will now be entered into the National awards dinner for the Best of the Best award in October. Well done to all those who made contributions to the success of the project in creating a wonderful workplace for Legal & General's team, including Rightacres, ISG, Arup, MCCANN & PARTNERS LTD, Gleeds and Cast Interiors.
