Last Thursday, a number of colleagues from the London office spent the day volunteering with the St Vincent’s Centre in Southend-on-Sea. This included collecting and organising donations of food and clothes, meeting visitors and learning about all the work the charity do for the local community. The St Vincent’s Centre is a community hub that supports vulnerable people in the community including through foodbank services, hot meals in and outreach support, household items and clothing. A multi-skilled consultancy that helps make better places.
About us
At Iceni Projects we believe that everything we do is ultimately about people – and as a consultancy operating within the built environment, for people read place. A place to live, to work, to play. To grow up; to grow old. A sense of place. Everything in its place. A time and a place. We are fortunate at Iceni to be able to call upon colleagues with a myriad of qualifications, specialisms and backgrounds, from archaeology to transport, operating across the country from four world class cities. However, what links us all is the belief that we can create better places by working collectively and collaboratively. So whether you choose to work with one individual or many, a planner or sustainability consultant, we put a commitment to place at the heart of what we do. We firmly believe in the principles of sustainable development. We practice what we preach. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and enhancing our contribution to society through a series of relevant targets that are regularly reviewed, monitored and updated.

News has broken this morning that Lower Thames Crossing has finally been granted development consent . The decision ends what feels like a lengthy period of uncertainty over the scheme and also represents a significant marker for the Labour government. Since taking power, they have been promoting growth in the housing sector and are now following that through with the larger infrastructure to support that growth, although the environmental question will forever hang over the scheme. Iceni are involved in multiple schemes in Essex and Kent and have already been assessing the impact of the now approved scheme. If there are any queries on how this could impact your interests in the area, our transport team would be more than happy to advise. Email us at transport_team@iceniprojects.com if you want to get in touch. Lower Thames Crossing development consent decision announced - https://lnkd.in/ePSwh4Qm

This week we had the pleasure of hosting students from both London South Bank University and University of Utrecht on site at Bromley-by-Bow with Berkeley Group Plc. A big thank you to Open Doors for organising the Southbank visit and the students for their enthusiasm and questions. Great to share the site with so many future industry leaders the week after it secured full planning consent. #Engagement #BromleybyBow #StWilliam #BerkeleyGroup

This week, Poppy Malcomson and Grace K. from our Built Heritage and Townscape team consider what happens when a listed building burns down and whether we need to be creative when it comes to preservation and restoration. https://hubs.ly/Q03bp9L50

The way we work, live, and invest in buildings is changing. With nearly 80% of the buildings that will exist in 2050 already built, the focus is shifting towards retrofitting and repurposing rather than demolishing and starting anew. At Iceni, we’re at the forefront of this transformation. From unlocking complex planning challenges to enhancing sustainability credentials, we are helping landowners, developers and investors future-proof their assets. From 214 Oxford Street to 150 St Vincent Street in Glasgow, Iceni is helping to redefine commercial real estate through deep retrofit, creative repurposing and smart sustainability solutions. Read our Retrofit & Repurposing showcase to see how we’re making an impact. #Retrofit #Repurposing #Sustainability #NetZero #UrbanRegeneration #RealEstate #Planning #Iceni
