Mann Williams are an award winning practice of Civil and Structural Engineers based in Bath, Cardiff and Belfast. We are committed to providing high quality professional design services to clients throughout the UK and continental Europe, delivering new build, refurbishment and the conservation of historic structures and monuments since 1986. The practice operates across the structural spectrum and is capable of delivering contemporary and architecturally demanding solutions in modern materials, in addition to our well respected and acknowledged expertise in the sensitive repair and conservation of historic structures. We have extensive experience of integrating contemporary architecture within historic environments and many of our projects have received prestigious RIBA and RICS awards. Our success as part of the RIBA Stirling Prize winning Astley Castle design epitomises our approach. Intelligent design and practical solutions; pragmatic engineering applied with great sensitivity. We have been an early adopter of BIM and are currently delivering projects at Level 2. Our track record of working collaboratively with both designers and contractors can be seen with over £120M of projects completed at Level 1 and 2. This has also seen us work successfully in the area of offsite Design for Manufacture and Assembly embedding data rich information in our models. Our use of BIM and approach to lean construction has seen our healthcare project at the Royal United Hospital taken forward as a Cabinet Office Trial project in line with the Construction 2025 strategy. This recognises our approach of reducing the time taken for a project from inception to completion and a reduction in waste by using off site manufacture.

It was great to be able to bring two RIBA awards back to the Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios office this morning. The success of the Bath Abbey Footprint Project is due to the hard work of so many people at the practice. The RIBA Regional Award and RIBA Conservation Award, were both very gratefully received last night. Many thanks to the RIBA South West team and the 2024 south west awards judges, for a wonderful awards dinner. It was heartening to read the judges' comments, that recognise the great efforts that have been contributed by so many people, to make the Bath Abbey Footprint Project a success. Congratulations to all the other shortlisted project teams and the other award winners. Extending over seven floors and providing access to all levels of the existing building, the atrium will unlock the vast potential of the Old College for the first time.
