Excited to be working on this project as part of Camden Council's affordable housing programme.
NEWS: We're proud to share that Jas Bhalla and Mikhail Riches are working with Camden Council on the first wave of its small sites housebuilding programme. The two infill sites on the Highgate Road and Raglan Street Estates will be designing new homes on the site of under-used car parks and garages. Both sites aim to provide much-needed new social housing and affordable rent homes for local residents of Camden and we have been engaging closely with residents and surrounding communities to refine concept designs. A huge congratulations to Grimshaw, Maynard Design Consultancy, EQUATION Lighting Design, AtkinsRéalis for their work on The Elizabeth Line which won the RIBA Stirling Prize 2024 last week. Congratulations also to Fardaa (Edward Farleigh-Dastmalchi) for their work on Croft 3 which picked up the RIBA Reinvention Award 2024. The shortlists this year were full of great projects with talented teams and it was an honour for Park Hill Phase 2 to be included in such great company. RIBA

After the Stirling Prize, I had some great conversations with attendees that got me reflecting. The prize has faced its share of criticism over the years, but that reflection led me to write this piece for the Architects' Journal. I honestly believe the Stirling Prize matters more than ever—it’s not just about celebrating architecture, it’s about highlighting how it improves lives, and that’s so important. Park Hill has been transformed in recent years. An exceptional, landmark building that is home once again to a thriving community - and there are more new homes on the way. Phase 2 of the redevelopment has been rightly nominated for the Stirling Prize, the UK's most prestigious architecture prize, which is awarded tonight. The fifth and final phase of Park Hill was recently given the green light. It will include 105 one, two, three and four-bedroom flats, duplexes and townhouses and 2,000 sq ft of commercial space. Congratulations to everyone at Mikhail Riches Urban Splash Places for People and everyone who has played their part in the transformation of Park Hill, alongside Sheffield City Council. Whatever the outcome tonight everyone involved should feel proud of their role in the regeneration of a truly special place.

Wishing Urban Splash and Mikhail Riches good luck at the Stirling Prize tonight!
Good luck to Urban Splash and Mikhail Riches for their RIBA #StirlingPrize shortlisting for the second phase of work at Park Hill. Amazing to look back on the success of the 50/50 collaboration of Studio Egret West and Hawkins\Brown, working with Urban Splash, Sheffield City Council and Grant Associates to craft the regenerative framework for Park Hill, including the detailed design of phase one which itself made the Stirling Prize shortlist in 2013. Our overarching approach sought to ameliorate nearly 40 years of neglect and misunderstanding, as well as reintegrate the building into its local context and community. Last year Park Hill was the winner of the Architecture Today “Buildings that Stand the Test of Time” Award, testimony to its resilience and its liveability. Our collaborative relationship with Hawkins\Brown has continued to flourish, most recently at Earls Court with the The Earls Court Development Company. In the meantime, a high five to Urban Splash for a double Stirling Prize shortlisting for leading the regeneration work spanning nearly two decades, and fingers crossed for the Phase 2 team at tonight’s RIBA Stirling Prize Ceremony.
