Earlier this month, RW Armstrong supported St. Michael's Hospital with its annual Christmas Tree Collection. Malcolm, Group Lorry Driver (pictured), and Jeff, Yard and Stores Person, volunteered their time to assist with collecting Christmas trees across Basingstoke. Their efforts played a significant role in the collection of 518 trees, which raised over £10,000 for the charity. This contribution will help St Michael's Hospice continue providing essential care to those in need. The initiative was a remarkable team effort, with Drew Clements, Fleet and Facilities Coordinator, organising the transport. The company’s involvement in this local charity would not have been possible without the dedication of Malcolm, Jeff, and Drew. #familybusiness #buildingforgenerations #charity #stmichaelshospice #finequalitybuilding #craftsmanship

Sustainability is a core value at RW Armstrong, which led to the launch of a partnership with the Community Wood Recycling project in 2023. Community Wood Recycling is a network of social enterprises dedicated to conserving resources while creating jobs and training opportunities for disadvantaged individuals. Excess wood from our projects is securely stored on site and collected by Community Wood Recycling, where it is carefully sorted for reuse or recycling. This initiative provides an environmentally responsible solution for waste management, conserving valuable resources, reducing energy use and pollution, combating climate change, and supporting individuals in returning to employment. In 2024, through this partnership, RW Armstrong diverted 27 tonnes of wood from the waste stream, with 4.8 tonnes reused and 22.2 tonnes recycled, resulting in a savings of 13 tonnes of CO2 emissions. #familybusiness #buildingforgenerations #wooddonations #recycling #reusing #sustainability #finequalitybuilding #craftsmanship

The RW Armstrong Joinery workshop in Basingstoke actively pursues sustainable methods for managing waste wood, including an initiative to donate surplus wood to local schools. One school shared some of the impressive creations their students made with these donations. In design and technology classes, students used the donated wood to craft wooden games entirely from scratch. The students expressed their appreciation, stating: “We enjoy working with Sapele and Oak because they don’t split when cutting and oil beautifully, showcasing the wood’s lovely grain patterns.” One student added: “I was fortunate to do work experience at RW Armstrong—it was inspiring to see the projects they create using the same wood I work with.” #familybusiness #buildingforgenerations #wooddonations #recycling #reusing #localschools #finequalitybuilding #craftsmanship

Nestling in seven acres and surrounded by mature woodlands, this Arts & Crafts property in Surrey underwent a thoughtful renovation that fully embraced its period character. The project included a full refurbishment of the roof, raising bedroom ceilings into the roof space, and the upgrading of all mechanical and electrical systems. The addition of a two-storey extension and a garden room seamlessly connects the house with its surroundings. The interior was masterfully reconfigured to enhance the flow of the building an create a sense of space. The remodelling included new internal walls that allowed the addition of a dedicated reading room to the master bedroom, as well as guest accommodation featuring a bedroom, bathroom, and a bunk room. The renovation also transformed the dark, outdated interiors into vibrant, modern spaces. The main hall's false beams and stone floors were replaced and, throughout the home, the colourful, layered interiors enhance the modern yet cosy cottage style. #familybusiness #buildingforgenerations #renovation #restoration #refurbishment #englishhome #finequalitybuilding #craftsmanship

RW Armstrong undertook a comprehensive refurbishment of the iconic control tower on the Goodwood Estate, originally constructed during the Second World War and first serving as the circuit office in 1948. The project aimed to modernise the building while preserving its historical and cultural significance. Though not listed, the control tower is internationally renowned and cherished by race enthusiasts, making it essential to honour its archetypal character throughout the refurbishment. The refurbishment included the integration of a new steel structure within the original walls, alongside the installation of a new roof and decking. Given the proximity to the active race circuit, the project demanded meticulous planning and execution to avoid disrupting events and to safeguard drivers and vehicles from any potential hazards. The project won a SUSSEX HERITAGE TRUST Award. #familybusiness #buildingforgenerations #finequalitybuilding #craftsmanship #refurbishment #rwarmstrong #craftsmanship #goodwood #countryhousebuilders #sussexheritagetrustaward #craftspeople

RW Armstrong successfully delivered a new Champagne Bar on the Goodwood Estate. The project included extensive groundwork to create a spacious lower-ground kitchen, an expanded ground-floor terrace, and a modern bar facility. This required significant excavation, including the removal of a large grass bank on the north side of the site. A visually striking stretch fabric canopy, supported by a steel framework, was a key feature of the design. Manufactured in Italy to harmonise with the existing racecourse architecture, the canopy was meticulously installed over a two week period. #familybusiness #buildingforgenerations #finequalitybuilding #craftsmanship #rwarmstrong #craftsmanship #goodwood #countryhousebuilders #craftspeople

This beautiful Grade II Listed manor house was once again returned to a family dwelling overlooking its own parkland, adjacent to the river. The house was fully refurbished with premium materials and finishes, state-of-the-art services, and bespoke joinery – including panelled door sets, traditional shutters, and architraves – all crafted and installed by our in-house joinery team. A subterranean extension was also built, housing an 18 metre swimming pool, spa, and entertaining space. Outside, the pool house features glass walls on all sides, with seamless fused-glass corners offering uninterrupted views of the landscaped gardens and river.
