The UK Verian Group team are very proud to support Migrant Leaders and their work. These are troubling times and I would like to thank Elham Fardad for her post dealing with the misconceptions that often surrounds migrants. As an organisation we value the undeniable contribution that diversity in all forms brings to us and our society. In our work with people and communities we aim to uncover ‘truth’ in their experiences and views and are often giving a voice to those who may find it hard to be heard. In a world where social media allows the viral spreading of disinformation this work is increasingly vital.  We will continue to stand against hatred, disinformation and promote a safe and inclusive society for everyone.

Message from our Founder & CEO Dear Supporters, I write this quarterly message at a time of violent racist riots across the country. A campaign of misinformation and misconceptions about migrants has fuelled discontent in the country. To dispel some misconceptions I’d like say the following: 1. Migrants don’t leave their homes out of choice Migrants know that if they are going to be poor in their own country or in another country they would rather be in their own country. Migrants predominantly come to better their lives, work hard, seek opportunities, and contribute to their host country. In most cases, they have no choice given economic and severe political unrest in their countries. They are no different to you or me. You wouldn’t put your family through this difficult migrant journey otherwise would you? 2. Migrants are the key to the host country’s success Research has shown that there are some short-term local costs to having migrants, yes. But in the long term migrants have a net positive economic effect on their host countries. The net positive impact is only eroded by the negative psychological impact of migration. These riots certainly contribute to that erosion. I am reminding myself that after 35 years I still feel such gratitude to this country for welcoming me and I take every opportunity to contribute and serve this great nation. Many migrants want that same welcome and opportunity to succeed and contribute, that’s all. 3. Migrants are not getting the full opportunity to succeed The Institute For Fiscal Studies Deaton Review said that migrant children have double the rate of university degrees compared to the white British majority. Yet they are 6% behind in employment rates and even further behind in attaining professional jobs and managerial progression. Having the best people in the right jobs fulfilling their true potential will grow the British economy for everyone’s benefit. They are not taking your jobs, they are growing our economy so we all have a job. Don’t let anyone point the finger of blame where it does not belong. Ask yourself what do I contribute and how can I help others contribute. Rioting, looting, burning, spreading hate and misinformation will not be to anyone’s benefit. This needs to stop. I am proud of our Migrant Leaders work and thank all our supporters from the bottom of my heart. Best wishes, Elham

What can 2024's voting intention data tell us about the next UK General Election? Verian's final #UKGE polling on vote share was the most accurate of the final polls. Verian used its proprietary probability panel Public Voice, which delivers high-quality evidence based on a controlled, random sample of the population and was the only organisation to use a probability panel for the final poll. Craig Watkins, UK CEO at Verian, reviews our analysis of the 2024 election and implications for the next UK General Election. Verian experts in Germany partnered with Children for a better World e.V. to investigate how attitudes towards democracy can be sustainably strengthened among young people.    The approach took form as a deliberative event for young people: ‘Generation Germany’ democracy festival, with discussions around justice issues.    The constructive conversations during the event led to greater self-efficacy and, above all, more basic confidence in democracy among the young participants.    Read more about Generation Germany: https://lnkd.in/efG8EHyS    Sophia McDonnell Elke Himmelsbach     #YoungPeople #GenerationGermany #Democracy #Deliberation #Evaluation #Verian #ChildrenForABetterWorld

After an eventful night of counts and recounts, we now have the 2024 general election results from all but two of the 632 constituencies in Great Britain. The Labour party has won a very large majority of the seats but with a surprisingly small share of the vote (35%). At Verian, we carried out weekly polls throughout the campaign period using our Public Voice panel. This panel has a random sample base and is used primarily for social research that must stand up to detailed scrutiny. We chose it as our vehicle for election surveys because we strongly believed that this kind of sampling protocol would yield the most accurate results. We are pleased to say that Verian’s pre-election survey was the most accurate of the twenty final polls published by British Polling Council members, vindicating our choice of sample source.[1] The chart below shows our estimates for each party’s share of the vote, the formal margins of error enclosing each estimate, and the true share revealed this morning. We would like to thank the members of our Public Voice panel for their exceptional contribution to our work, not least their honesty with respect to such a private matter. You can find all of our polling and methodology from the UK General Election 2024 on the Verian website: https://lnkd.in/ePybRHFp #VerianData #UKGE #Polling [1] Accuracy measured by the mean error across seven vote shares: Labour, Conservatives, Liberal Democrats, Reform UK, Greens, SNP, plus a single additional category covering all other parties that obtained less than two per cent of the vote.

What are the key differences in voting intention by 2019 vote and age? - Labour is retaining the majority of their 2019 voters, while Conservative 2019 voters are more likely to have moved towards other parties – particularly Reform UK. - Labour leads among all age groups of likely voters, except those aged 65 plus.
