Mobile World Congress 2018 officially starts tomorrow for when they open the show floor up to attendees at the conference center, but today was the press day full of conferences from some of the biggest manufacturers like Nokia and Samsung, with those two being the most notable. Nokia of course revealed some pretty big details about its future in the Android phone space. While Nokia entering the Android phone market period was arguably much bigger news when it was announced a while back, Nokia has confirmed as of today that all of its future smartphones would either be part of the Android Go program, or Android One phones, meaning consumers who look to Nokia to fill their smartphone needs will be in for a great user experience as both the Android Go phones and Android One phones will be getting the fastest possible updates.

For instance, Android Go phones are already going to be running on Android Oreo out of the box, and Android One phones that launch this year will likely be doing the same. Moving forward they will also still continue to get fast updates, almost as fast as Google’s own Pixel lineup, or past Nexus devices when they were still being manufactured, so Nokia phone owners can definitely expect a great software experience. Building on this news, Nokia also had a few phones to announce today, such as the Nokia 8 Sirocco, as well as the Nokia 1 and the Nokia 6 2018 model.

Moving a little further into the day, none other than Samsung has finally announced the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus, its two latest flagship smartphones which come with some marked improvements over last year’s flagship Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, all without raising the cost too much for the models you can get straight from Samsung which are $720 for the Galaxy S9 and $840 for the Galaxy S9 Plus. As expected the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus will both be launching on March 16 both online and in retail stores around the globe, with pre-orders beginning March 2 from most retailers, while some, like O2, are starting pre-orders as of today.
