🚨 New publication alert! 🚨 Excited to share our latest work, published in the Journal of the International AIDS Society, on how HIV self-testing (#HIVST) can help South and Southeast Asia achieve the ambitious UNAIDS 95-95-95 testing and treatment targets. 🌍🧬 Key takeaways: ✅ Uneven national policy adoption, lack of awareness, limited funding, and insufficient HIVST kit availability hinder broader implementation of self-testing across the region. ✅ HIVST programs that provide flexibility, such as home-based testing and secondary distribution, have been effective. Digital and community-based delivery models have proven successful in engaging hard-to-reach populations. ✅ Differentiated delivery models, government funding, and enhanced linkage to care are essential for widespread implementation. The VacciNations Campaign is an initiative by PATH, Gavi CSO Constituency, and WACI Health to address the urgent challenge of ensuring sustainable funding for routine #immunization programs in Africa. This summer, we brought together experts, advocates, and officials from across the continent to discuss how to overcome financial and logistical barriers to ensure lifesaving vaccines reach every child. This regional dialogue underscored the crucial role of collaboration—among governments, international partners, and civil society—in developing sustainable immunization financing models. Increased domestic investment, enhanced transparency and accountability, and strategic advocacy are essential to ensuring all children get a fair chance at a healthy life. 📊 Policymakers and health officials need accurate data to turn commitments into actions that strengthen maternal, newborn, and child health (#MNCH) services. But the task of analyzing and presenting health data from subnational to global levels can be challenging. 🌍 That’s why data was the focus of the recent two-part session in our Africa regional MNCH advocacy dialogue series. A panel of experts from PATH, AlignMNH, Africa Health Budget Network, Samasha Medical Foundation, and PMNCH shared tools and tactics designed to build capacity and efficiency for advocates. 📣 Participants underscored the urgency and appetite for a collective voice in MNCH advocacy. As a convening organization, PATH is building a movement for advocacy partners in Africa, disseminating tools that make advocacy actionable, and creating platforms for collaboration. 🌍 Climate change poses a significant threat to the progress made in global health, particularly in communities already grappling with health and economic disparities. To protect human health amidst the impacts of climate change, we must enhance digital public infrastructure (DPI) for health at national, regional, and global levels, integrating climate and weather data more effectively. At this year's #GDHF2024, we are excited to introduce the track: "Climate Data Services for Health", focusing on these critical conversations. 🟢 Brought to you by: PATH, Digital Square at PATH, Wellcome Trust, and The Rockefeller Foundation 🗓️ Dates: December 4-6 📍 Register here: gdhf.digital Scroll through for a preview of the featured sessions in the Climate Data Services for Health track! 🔍 #GlobalHealth #ClimateChange #DPIforHealth #GDHF2024 #ClimateData #HealthInnovation

In Zambia, climate change is wreaking havoc on agriculture and, by extension, on public health. In February, President Hakainde Hichilema declared a national disaster after a devastating drought brought on by El Niño. Across the region, climate-related hazards are becoming more frequent and more severe, with widespread crop failure leading to food shortages, water scarcity, and disease proliferation. “This year, everything we planted dried in the field. We got nothing,” said Anne Mwale, a community health worker and single mother in Chipala village. PATH and the Ministry of Health of Zambia have established the Technical Working Group (TWG) on Climate Change and Health to identify key vulnerabilities related to climate change and develop evidence-based mitigation and adaptation measures. As we advance the working group’s agenda, we remain steadfast in knowing the best way to adapt to climate change is to ensure everyone, everywhere, has access to the care they need to live healthy lives free of crushing financial burdens.
