International advocacy is key to ensuring business aviation’s benefits and priorities are understood and appreciated in the face of many common challenges. This article shows the critical role that business aviation associations such as IBAC, National Business Aviation Association, European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) and the Irish Business & General Aviation Association (IBGAA) play in supporting and promoting the value of our industry. International aviation has been a rich part of Ireland’s history since the first non-stop flight from the U.S. to Europe landed in a peat bog more than a century ago. The #IBGAA draws on this legacy in promoting the importance of GA and business aviation across the country. #aviation #businessaviation #bizav #airtravel #aircraft #airports #aviationindustry

📣 ACI EUROPE joins over 400 cross-sector organisations in a collective call on EU leaders to confirm the Green Deal as a strategic priority for the next EU mandate. The EU Green Deal is the foundation of a competitive, secure, modern and efficient Europe. As such, it must be underpinned by EU industrial policy supporting its implementation. EU airports are bound by a number of requirements for their infrastructure to meet the ambitious goals enshrined in the Green Deal, and they now need the stability and supporting measures to deliver on the transformation. This means, the EU Green Deal needs to be reconfirmed as a key strategic priority for our bloc by the new leaders assuming their office this year and complemented by a sound EU industrial strategy to support it. Moreover, the European aviation stakeholders are ready to start a closer cooperation with the institutions shaping their sustainable and competitive future, notably the European Commission, to establish an EU Pact for Sustainable & Competitive Aviation, fully aligned with the EU Green Deal objectives. Climate change has very much become politicised over the past months in the run up to the European elections and as we move closer to our next 5-year political cycle. That should not be. Climate change is about science first and foremost - and the Green Deal came in response to science (and international commitments under the Paris Agreement). It has positioned Europe as the leading continent on climate action and the preservation of future generations’ mere existence. So it has been a no brainer for ACI EUROPE to be part of this unprecedented coalition calling on EU leaders to preserve the Green Deal as THE way forward for Europe’s security, competitiveness and sustainable growth. In fact this is the only way. Developing and managing airports has always been about remaining as much as possible driven by and focused on the long-term. Deciding on public policies and regulating should follow the same logic - more than ever. Of course, there is a lot to do to improve the Green Deal and future-proof it - hence our call for it to be complemented by a real industrial policy. Hence also our call together with our #destination2050 partners for an EU Pact for Sustainable and Competitive Aviation. But there can be no way back from the direction set by the Green Deal. #GREENDEALFOREU | European Commission | European Parliament | Council of the European Union

🤔 In case you missed it... ➡ In the framework of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of European Union, last week the city of Brussels hosted the 2024 edition of the Connecting Europe Days, Europe’s mobility flagship event. The Connecting Europe by Air side event was a particularly insightful initiative, which gathered policy makers and aviation industry stakeholders from all over #Europe to discuss the critical role of aviation in ensuring #connectivity & #sustainability within the European transport system. 🛫 The event also provided a platform to explore innovative EU-funded aviation projects showcased across the venue. 💡 The major highlights during the panels? • Security needs to be ensured at every level and in every shape. • Sustainable mobility must emerge as a priority also through the EU citizens's vote at the upcoming European Parliament elections. • Although there is no silver bullet solution to make aviation more sustainable, there are several silver bullet solutions that can be put in place, one complementing the other. 🙌 Let's continue working together towards sustainable flights! 🔗https://bit.ly/4aD621u

At the Spanish roundtable organised by the SPBAA | Spanish Business Aviation Association, with the support of EBAA, José Ramón Bauzá, Member of the European Parliament in the Transport and Tourism Committee, addressed his Spanish constituency, shedding light on his role in the European Parliament in supporting #sustainableaviation. He discussed the significance of the recently approved #ReFuelEU regulation, for which he led the policy-making process as a rapporteur, as it establishes a stable framework for the use and production of #SAF, representing the most effective solution to decarbonise the aviation sector. 🍀✈️

Today, on the International Day of Living Together in Peace, ICAO is proud to celebrate 80 years of air transport's contributions towards this goal. The UN General Assembly established this annual observance to regularly mobilize the international community's efforts to promote peace, tolerance, inclusion, understanding and solidarity. Living together in peace is all about accepting differences, having the ability to listen to and recognize others, and working together in a united way. These are values that are deeply ingrained in ICAO's work to connect the world through the skies. The 1944 Convention on International Civil Aviation, which created ICAO, recognizes how air transport plays a crucial role in fostering global prosperity and peace among nations. Reflecting this, strengthening international cooperation in civil aviation has been central to ICAO's mission for the past eight decades. As we mark this 80th anniversary throughout 2024, let us recommit ourselves to promoting tolerance, inclusion, and harmony among all peoples and nations. By finding common ground and upholding the desire to live and act together, we can build a more prosperous and peaceful global community through the power of flight. If you have a story you would like to share related to these themes, we would love to read it in the comment section.

A huge thank you to the European Regions Airline Association for putting together this week’s Regional Airline Conference in Berlin. Always a superb opportunity for us at Heart Aerospace to reconnect with airlines, industry colleagues and those at the forefront of regional aviation in Europe. It was a great to moderate the session on ‘Financing the Green Transition’ with such an experienced panel. Thank you Marianne Sieg de Maintenant, Anne-Bart Tieleman, Olivier Ravel and Nicolae Petrov. Some interesting takeaways I noted: ✅ Public finance will be essential in the next decade to scale new technology and SAF to get them to a point where they become commercially self sustaining. ✅ To contine to attract private investment it will remain critical to show an ROI whether that be SAF or new technology. ✅As an industry we need to continue demonstrating the value and importance of regional aviation to European connectivity and economic development - part of the ROI for governments if we want them to invest. ✅We need to work harder to give more political profile to the role of new technology in meeting the industry 2050 net zero targets. SAF alone will not get us to the finish line, we need a basket of measures. ✅SAF is not yet scaling at the necessary rates, the price remains high and regional carriers are likely to find it hard to access in the early years - this makes the case for new technology even more important for the regional sector as a reliever for SAF demand that will be critical for long haul flying. Looking forward to the General Assembly already!
