Dynelectro, a Danish startup specialising in sustainable energy solutions, has raised an €11 million investment. The round was led by Denmark’s Export & Import Fund Organisation (EIFO) that recently invested in Danish startups Kvantify and EvodiaBio, Yara Growth Ventures, Vsquared Ventures, PSV DeepTech, The Footprint Firm, and the European Investment Bank (EIB). Current electrolysis technologies are estimated to waste 25-50% of input electricity, limiting their commercial viability and sustainability. Solid oxide electrolysis (SOE) offers the highest conversion efficiency but has been hindered by its short lifespan, making it cost-prohibitive. Dynelectro’s AC:DC technology addresses this issue by extending the lifespan of SOE from 2 years to 10 years, aligning it with other electrolysis technologies. This advancement reduces costs and allows for quick production adjustments, aiding in grid balancing through ancillary services. Molten Industries has raised $25 million for their methane pyrolysis technology. 💵 The Oakland, CA-based startup splits methane into 2 parts - graphite for use in lithium batteries and hydrogen for use in heavy industry decarbonization. This process uses renewable energy, ensuring a small carbon footprint. The methane too is sustainably sourced from things like dairy farms or waste streams. 🌽 The round was led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures, and also included Sozo Ventures, Mark Heising, Steelhead Capital Management, Union Square Ventures, 50 Years, J4.Ventures, Moai Capital, UVC Partners, Jane Woodward, and Peter Attia. 𝗔𝘁𝗺𝗶𝗼 𝗧𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗘𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 🌍 Hamburg-based startup atmio has successfully raised 5.1 million euros in a seed financing round. The funding round was led by Notion Capital and included participation from SquareOne Venture Capital, HCVC, Robin Capital and David Rowan 's VOYAGERS.io Climate-Tech Fund. Atmio has developed a comprehensive solution that enables natural gas companies to adhere to the new EU methane regulations and significantly reduce methane emissions. The startup's operating system combines hardware and software to detect, remediate, and report methane emissions. 🌱 This innovative approach positions atmio to address climate change effectively and aims to become the leading global provider in the measurement and management of greenhouse gas emissions. VoltR, a French manufacturer of sustainable lithium batteries, has raised €4 million in a seed funding round that included C4 Ventures, Exergon, Pays de la Loire Participations, and ANJOU AMORCAGE, and more. VoltR will use the proceeds to continue the development of a pilot plant, industrialise its refurbishment processes, carry out research and development, and for new hires. In addition to the seed funding round, VoltR has launched a Series A funding round of ‘several tens of millions of euros’, which is expected to close by Q4 2024. “Our aim is to build a European circular economy for lithium batteries in order to minimise their environmental impact,” said Alban Regnier, President and Founder of VoltR. “The largest lithium deposit is not buried within mines, but rather found in our homes.” Founded in 2022, VoltR manufactures batteries for a variety of applications from used products that retain 80% of their storage capacity on average. VoltR has raised a total of €2 million in seed capital and a further €2 million as a combination of debt and grants. #cleanenergy
