The Women Behind The Octagon
“The world is too big for us to change it alone, but if we each bring the change we can bring, the world will change.” – brinda somaya, Founder & Principal Architect, Somaya+Sampat
This International Women's Day 2025, we celebrate the incredible women at Howells and those we collaborate with to create inspiring spaces.
The Octagon has been shaped by a talented group of women, each playing a key role in its design and delivery for our developer manager MEPC Limited and development funders City Developments Limited, and contractor, Midgard Ltd.
👏 Francesca G. Ghavami Milnes, Associate Interior Designer at Howells, has led the interiors for two years— from concept to delivery - shaping the apartments, penthouses and resident amenity spaces.
👏 Anita Brindley, Architect at Howells, who has worked on Octagon throughout the project and has undertaken vital site reviews and snagging for the whole team.
👏 Alexandra Zainescu, Project Architect at Howells, has been instrumental in both architecture and interiors since the project’s early stages.
👏 Eliza Benson, Architectural Assistant at Howells, has contributed to the interior design of amenity spaces for over a year, refining concepts and overseeing delivery.
👏 Zamira Bushaj, Architectural Assistant at Howells, recently joined the team to support the project’s final technical details and delivery.
👏 Georgina Kean, Senior Planner at Turley, who has led on planning advice associated with the implementation and delivery of Octagon, inclusive of its setting within the wider Paradise development.
👏 Shabana Aslam, Senior Design Coordinator at Midgard, has played a crucial role for over three years, bringing together internal and external teams to guide the design process.
👏 Laura Starkey, Senior Asset Manager at CDL who is responsible for the mobilisation and post completion operation of The Octagon to deliver outstanding service for residents.
To all the women shaping the built environment—today and every day—we celebrate you! 🌟
