This exciting project sees us partner with Rescape Innovation Ltd, Universal Music Group, and Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd! January saw another 10 colleagues join the trial, that's 40 Hafod colleagues helping us learn how music and VR can play a role in supporting wellbeing and helping with mental health issues. “As a people-focused business, our colleagues are central to what we do. Those in our frontline teams experience emotional fatigue and, at times low wellbeing. Finally, here are our shortlisted nominees for our Better Together ‘We Care' Award 2025. 🥁 Drumroll Please! 🥁 Flagship Homes - Hope at Home: Hopestead provides furniture and support to those transitioning from homelessness, helping them rebuild their lives. Last year, they supported 418 individuals across 239 households, helping them sustain tenancies and rebuild their lives. Lewisham Council - Hardship Fund: Lewisham's Hardship Fund, supported by Travis Perkins Managed Services, provides immediate support to vulnerable residents, addressing urgent needs like food and essential household items. GreenSquareAccord - Walsall Community Engagement Centre: Walsall CEC supports residents by offering a wide range of activities that promote community engagement and participation, such as celebration events and fitness sessions. Hafod - We’re Here For You: This campaign provides vital support to families facing hardship. Programmes include back-to-school essentials, warm winter packs, and Christmas gifts, making a tangible difference in people's lives. Congratulations to all our finalists. We’ve learnt that projects don’t have to be big to make an impact on our customers lives. Last Thursday I was at the offices of Hafod Housing(Hafod Housing Association) in Cardiff, a member of the Hendre Group, together with The High Sheriff of South Glamorgan 2024 to present High Sheriff Awards to 5 of their staff. Hafod nominated staff who go above and beyond by volunteering in their own time for other causes. The recipients were : Austin Hill, who volunteers for Tir Natur, Emma Thomas who volunteers for BulliesOut: Empowering Future Generations, Lorraine Hughes who volunteers as a respite carer for Social Services, Saskia Aubrey who volunteers for Food for All, and Kathleen Williams who volunteers for Welcome Friends. It was a splendid occasion and a pleasure to meet staff and leaders at Hafod - an organisation that not only focuses on transforming housing for the better but also the health, social care and support for people and communities in their own home, residential and nursing accommodation. Congratulations, Llongyfarchiadau to those recognised, and to Hafod for valuing its staff beyond the workplace. Great start to the new year with a contract award for Encon Construction! We are pleased to announce that we have been appointed to construct an affordable housing development on the former Cowbridge Grammar School site, on behalf of our client Hafod. Following on from Encon constructing a bat house in 2024 and the demolition of the former school, the next phase of the works will consist of 34 affordable homes - thirty apartments and four houses. The development will be constructed in partnership with our client Hafod, Vale of Glamorgan Council, Llywodraeth Cymru / Welsh Government and the project team TC Consult Ltd, Pentan Architects, CB3 Consult Ltd and Hicks Titley Partnership Limited. 🌍🏠 Improving Energy Efficiency for a Sustainable Future 🌱 We were excited to welcome First Minister Eluned Morgan to Arcon House in St Mellons, Cardiff, where she visited Hafod customers to see the positive impact of energy efficiency upgrades. As part of the Llywodraeth Cymru / Welsh Government Optimised RetroFit Programme (ORP), solar panels are being installed to boost energy efficiency, and new windows will soon follow as part of our Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS) programme.
