In this five days training process, these individuals learned the intricacies of starting and growing their own businesses, achieving remarkable success. Following this achievement, we are committed to continuing our support by providing training to more differently-abled individuals, empowering them to kickstart their entrepreneurial ventures. This is just the beginning of our journey, and together, we will progress toward greater heights of prosperity under the leadership of Mallikarjuna Iytha. Aug 26th & 27th, 2023 saw the culmination of the 5th cohort of Reap Benefit's #SolveNinja #Leadership #Accelerator! When 28 youth from 15 states across India solve the community problems in civic and climate change, starting from their neighborhood, come together to master skills of problem solving, scaling initiatives, funding, inner game, and creating enterprises - it is a pot of Leadership In Action. There is something that keeps these youth glued to the problems they are solving. This program democratizes the opportunity to develop solutions for the youth from diverse backgrounds. The youth here represent diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. We have youth from both rural and urban areas. Even though they are different, what unites them is the passion for civic and environmental problems that is plaguing our society. Across these 5 Cohorts, 62 Changemakers have participated, with about 25 of them starting their entrepreneurial journey. Witnessed the growth firsthand as Demat accounts surged from 5.23Cr in March 2022 to a whopping 13.8Cr in August 2023. That's a surge of 8Cr accounts, with a striking 80% belonging to individuals aged 21 to 28. Constituted as an apex body under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to help plan, promote, facilitate, organize and aid in the development of Khadi and village industries in rural India. KEF provides livelihood support to children and youth from Below the Poverty Line (BPL) families in Mumbai, Thane and Raigad regions. KEF is Kotak Group's primary vehicle to implement its CSR Programme on Education and Livelihood. On its part, KEF has been building capacities to scale up its social work to meet Kotak Group's increasing CSR requirement. KEF has put in place a robust management, governance and audit framework. Drawing from my extensive experience of engaging with over 200,000 gig workers across various sectors over the past eight years, I am deeply grateful for the unique opportunity to collaborate with a diverse cross-section of stakeholders. This includes gig workers, platform aggregators, union representatives, government officials, and public-private partnerships such as airports and consulates, all of whom play a crucial role in shaping the landscape of the gig and platform economy. Through this journey, I have witnessed firsthand the urgent need for sustainable social protection measures tailored to the specific dynamics of the gig workforce. It is imperative that we come together as a collective ecosystem to address these pressing issues. Reflecting on our journey, from advocating for tax filing initiatives on the ground to witnessing gig workers proactively pre registering for their tax filings to establish financial credibility and plan for tax refunds, it is evident that meaningful behavioral changes are underway. However, the true game-changer lies not only in laying the groundwork for social protection but also in fostering a culture of continuous collaboration and collective action among workers and stakeholders alike. Achieving sustainable social protection requires sustained effort and cooperation from all parties involved. I eagerly anticipate participating in the OMI Foundation's National Dialogue, where we can collectively work towards building a more inclusive and resilient platform economy.
