No 'humblebrag' intended here, folks. I'm sharing this post because it truly brightened up my rainy soggy Thursday! A big thank you to Anna Patarino for her kind words. Anna, your gesture means a lot to me.
I'd like to take a moment to emphasize the importance of what Anna did, and why we should all strive to do more of it for one another, whether as mentors, friends, colleagues, or thought leaders. While I have a deep appreciation for technology, considering it almost like a love language, I can't help but feel that we've allowed it prominence over the human element in our workplaces, conference and Zoom Rooms.
Reflecting on a recent insightful conversation with Jill Lehman, CPC, ELI-MP a CHRO Executive Coach, we discussed how PEOPLE, not things, are the true and most valuable assets of any organization. How we acknowledge and support our employees and colleagues can profoundly impact the success of a brand or product. Or it's demise. Yet, it seems we've grown somewhat stingy with recognition, often brushing it off as mere sentimentality, instead of recognizing its POWER to foster happiness among employees, which in turn fuels innovation. In short: Recognition can be a catalyst for innovation.
I hope this serves as a reminder that celebrating and honoring others not a granola-crunchy thing, but instills a sense of pride in employees and their work. And bottom line for those Cees sweating the balance sheet, that means you get more good stuff from employees and colleagues.

I'm a total nerd when it comes to learning and personal/professional growth 🤓 If you're an aspiring OR inspiring leader I'm here to support you
I had the BEST conversation with Linda Calvin, JD (she/her/hers)!
She is the Impact Officer for Reboot Representation and the powerhouse behind Transcend Consulting.
Linda's all about fostering diversity and ensuring EVERYONE has a spot at the table. 🌟
Here's a sneak peek at the pearls of wisdom I snagged from this remarkable leader:
✏ Surround yourself with mentors & sponsors
✏ Get involved with others in the community who look/act like you
✏ Find ways to alleviate your nerves (going for walks etc)
✏ Don't be afraid to fail and fail fast
✏ Walk into a room with confidence

When Marina, a director for Card Tech, discovered that 90 percent of career success comes from image and exposure, she made it her mission to help other women in tech build their brands and grow their careers. Check out her four tips!

I had the pleasure of helping create and execute our 1st-Ever Women in Tech panel at #SplunkGovSummit. These phenomenal female government tech leaders shared authentic stories about what inspired them to pursue a career in government and technology, strategies they’ve taken to promote the advancement and representation of government women within these roles and answered attendee questions during our live Q&A around how to ensure your voice is heard in a room where you are the only woman, personal successes, building allies, mentorship advice and more.
The panel was a highlight of the program and left me feeling more inspired than ever to further build my own network and surround myself with amazing mentors like these women. Thank you to Lynette Sherrill, Diane Carnohan, CISM, CDPSE, Rebecca Brennan and Jennifer Tate for sharing your voice and guidance. It was incredible.

A lot of women can resonate with the feeling of being isolated and lonely as the only female on their tech teams. Speaking from my own experience, it can lead to an imposter syndrome and a longing for the feeling of belonging. But I came up with a few tricks and tips that has helped me come of this feeling.
1. Improving your visibility in the team
2. Connecting with other Women in Tech
3. Creating your own community of Women in Tech
4. Giving back to the community by mentoring other early-career women

I'm at a tech meetup. I overheard one of the co-hosts discussing her "women in tech" initiatives, for example hosting a hackathon with all women judges because so many hackathons are judged by all, or nearly all men.
Another guy also overheard and butted in. He really challenged her hard on why she'd do this. Shouldn't she strive for 50/50? Isn't she being exclusionary? He went on to joke (I think) the event should be boycotted as anti-men.
Ok, so, look— fellow fellas, don't be that guy. If you don't want to go, then don't. But crusading against women creating exposure for women, in a sea of events full of men, is not the way. (But it sure is easier to punch down, isn't it?) Don't make somebody's challenges the target of your joke...
By the way: later, another guy challenged this same woman on whether she could even code, as a meetup host (after she'd introduced herself as a technical founder & engineer).
In both cases she handled it with the grace of somebody who's very clearly heard it all before. But you can see the grimace behind the smile.

Starting January off on a high 🙌
There's noting better than giving women #toptips on getting ahead in tech and being recognised for their efforts 🙌
As our 16-week accelerator will soon be coming to an end, we spoke to our #womenintech cohort about writing an award winning nomination....
award season is upon us soon and we'd love to see our cohort get recognition for being superstar women in technology 🚀
Our Founder Rav Bumbra, who has been an awards judge for numerous awards for the last 5 years, ran a fantastic session that covered;
⭐ how awards make #rolemodels visible
- inspires others to join in
- attracts recruiters
- accelerates careers
🌟 award winners have great stories - learn the art of storytelling
- it takes judges on a journey and draws them in
🌟 understanding the gaps
- accomplishments aren't just about the day role, they cover how someone advocates, sponsors and champions not just women, but the next generation of girls to take up space in tech. Things to get involved with could include; supporting internal and external women's networks, speaking to girls about navigating pathways, volunteering time to mentor girls and women, speaking on panels to share wisdom and strategies for success.
🌟 don't be afraid to self nominate
- only you know yourself best, so get comfortable with talking about the great things you do and are
🌟 writing a great nomination takes time
- start the process now, so you are fully prepared when nomination lines open
And don't forget
🌟 testimonials add great value, add this to the additional information
- get your supporters to write a few lines about why you are so awesome and the impact you created 🙌

Head of Growth @ Convert.com | Growing a bad@$$ DTC to 100M | Helping brands that give a damn become the only choice for their best buyers. Mission is the new Inbound ™!
It was October 2023.
I was working with my mentor Lucia van den Brink ✨️on a 3-step branding framework.
When I asked - "Hey Lucia, what if we did something really impactful for women in experimentation? What if we did a summit that was all transparency and diversity - yet full of quality education?"
Lucia was a 100% YES from Day 1. And she introduced me to Daphne Tideman - the best partner in crime I could have hoped for.
Exactly 5 months later - this vision is now a reality.
Convert X Women in Experimentation has its official line-up: https://lnkd.in/d7bpXenv
Here are a few reasons why our summit is different:
1. We received 70+ speaker applications. Each application (with more than 20 questions) was reviewed by a panel of 4 judges. Independent scoring. Then a final once over for diversity. Daphne embedded inclusivity in our DNA. Kelly (Anne) Wortham, Rosie Hoggmascall & Carmen A. ensured thorough evaluation.
2. A mix of advanced experimentation know-how and soft skills. One of the factors we relied on to choose the topics was **actionable take-aways**. The other was **innovation**. We wanted a line-up that would inspire new thinking -- but also come with a healthy dose of how-tos and nitty gritty processes. You know -- draw the owl step-by-step -- don't jump from the circle to the owl. ;)
Thanking Alex Birkett who is on for an experiment -- introducing a (secret) AMA panel to round out the hard skills that the attendees will absorb.
Authority without a brand is just someone who knows a lot!
3. The very best for those who sign-up. Exposure (Yup .. not just the speakers, the attendees get a shot at the spotlight too). Moderated networking with Daphne. And sessions polished by the speakers alongside their assigned (expert) coaches. No fluff. Straight-to-the point.

More to come!
What happened to my framework? It was abandoned - for the time being. This is my jam from now till 6th June 2024.
Make it yours too! It's for a good cause.
It started as a "what-if" between Lucia van den Brink, Trina Moitra, Daphne Tideman, and is now a fully-fledged vision!
We are proud to announce the speaker line-up for the Convert X Women in Experimentation Annual Summit 2024.
⭐ Georgia Sugarman
⭐ Axelle Ahanhanzo
⭐ Eden Bidani
⭐ Line-Ariel (L.A) Bretous
⭐ Gerda Vogt-Thomas
⭐ May Chin
⭐ Ebere Jonathan
⭐ Ruben de Boer
⭐ Oreoluwa Akinnawo
⭐ Sundar Swaminathan
Their fascinating topics and takeaways are in the featured carousel.
But before you jump to it — here's why we're hosting the summit.
To go beyond lip service and do real service in our authentic and helpful community.
We want to put the spotlight on individuals who contribute to evolving the experimentation space from within agencies and companies; but don't have the bandwidth to build their own following.
They are the “silent catalysts”.
We want to present topics that are fresh & exciting. But hands-on and full of practical value. Some food for thought, some immediate work to do.
We want to be transparent about how the speakers are chosen.
There were 70+ applicants and we reached out to each and every person, sharing the scoring criteria and the factors that influenced the final line-up selection.
Convert.com is fully invested in the cause championed by Women in Experimentation.
Also why we aren't simply sponsoring this summit - we are in the trenches, doing the work with amazing ladies like Anna Ambrozevich, Rosie Hoggmascall, Kelly (Anne) Wortham - without whom nothing would have taken shape.
Big shout-out to the Test & Learn Community (TLC) for giving our summit a home.
To Omniscient Digital for the (secret) AMA panel at the event!
And to nohacks.show and Slobodan Manić for supporting the endeavor!
Labeling you mere "sponsors" would be a disservice.
Kudos and appreciation go to Carmen A. for scoring the applications alongside Rosie, Kelly, and Trina.
We're honored to have Els Aerts, Mirjam De Klepper, and Talia Wolf as speaker coaches.

As we edge closer to the official start date of the Diversity-X Funding Readiness Programme, i've been looking back at how we arrived at our incredible first cohort.
Let's look at some numbers.
67%. This represents the percentage of applicants that identified as a female founder. That's a good number. We are doing something right in attracting female founders to apply for our programme.
82%. This represents the percentage of female founders in the final cohort.
I want this, and Diversity-X wants this to be how we deliver change for our whole community of underestimated founders. Step by step.
I'm proud. Now to help them get funded.
