Solomonic’s top 30 law firm ranking reveals the leading firms handling claims in the first half of 2024 - a mix of the usual titans and ambitious movers shaking up the rankings. The top five remain impenetrable, with Clyde & Co leading the pack for the fourth consecutive year by a considerable margin. Legal giant DAC Beachcroft and disputes powerhouse RPC are neck and neck in second place, while DWF’s total is just shy of this. Kennedys maintain their iron grip on fifth position. Notable firms CMS UK and Weightmans again feature within the top 10, with Freeths joining them. Trowers & Hamlins are having a busy year, already active in more claims than in the whole of 2023. Other litigation leaders all retain a top 30 spot, including Eversheds Sutherland, Hill Dickinson LLP, Mishcon de Reya LLP, Irwin Mitchell, Stephenson Harwood LLP, Shakespeare Martineau and Fieldfisher, all moving up on their 2023 rankings. Heavyweight Clifford Chance has made a comeback with an active start to the year, reclaiming a spot in the top 30 alongside gunnercooke. US firm Scott+Scott has muscled into the top 30 at 26th and Rothley Law Limited is up 34 places to 8th. Worthwhile reading from Bloomberg Law's Emily Siegel about Big Law's growing use of litigation finance to meet client demand and manage risk on contingency and alternative fee arrangement cases. Big Law utilized $960mm in funding, according to the latest industry report from Westfleet Advisors. That's over one-third of all capital committed to funding last year. Funding "presents opportunities for our clients to bring case[s] that they otherwise couldn't bring," says one Big Law partner about funding. Funding also helps Big Law win business in an increasingly competitive market where clients are "demanding better deals." With best-in-class client service and an efficient, transparent diligence process, Statera regularly works with Big Law and more regional or boutique firms to craft responsible and flexible financing solutions to meet client needs to pursue meritorious cases. Beyond courtroom dramas, a complex path to justice awaits. Demystifying the myths and realities of litigation. Forget Hollywood theatrics – litigation is an intricate world, not simply a gavel-banging spectacle. It's a structured process for resolving disputes, protecting rights, and seeking rightful compensation. From contract breaches to intellectual property infringements, it serves as a fair and impartial platform for justice to prevail. But navigating this labyrinth can be daunting. Confusion about its purpose, stages, and efficacy often shrouds this powerful tool. This post aims to shed light on some common misconceptions: 1-Myth: Litigation is a last resort. Reality: While alternative dispute resolution methods exist, litigation can be the most effective recourse for complex legal issues, significant losses, or blatant breaches. 2-Myth: It's a quick fix. Reality: Litigation is a marathon, not a sprint. Understanding the multi-stage process, from pre-trial discovery to potential appeals, empowers you to approach it with realistic expectations and proactive preparedness. 3-Myth: It's a gamble. Reality: While inherent uncertainties exist, seeking expert legal guidance like ADLI Law Firm's can dramatically enhance your odds of achieving a favorable outcome.
