I have been there! That is what makes my counselling stand out from others who have not. As a Certified Addiction Counsellor with lived experience, I know what it's like to struggle with addiction and what it takes to recover. My passion is to help those suffering from addictions, stemming from past trauma, heal. Addiction often effects the whole family. I also provide counselling for the family/parents/spouses to help them learn how to best support their loved one. I am certified in Addiction Counselling, Anger Management & Domestic Violence and provide court certificates/letters for all my programs offered.

We're here to work with children, teens and adults who want to overcome anxiety, depression, and the impact of challenging life experiences. We understand that mental health problems rob people of the chance to experience all that life has to offer, and we help our clients move their lives towards autonomy, engagement, healthy problem-solving, coping, and healthy relationships.

Are you struggling with issues such as perfectionism or people pleasing? Perhaps it feels like very few things are in your control? I understand, you try so hard to do your best, but your attempts do not feel like they are working. Do you find yourself preoccupied with your weight, shape, and control? Your relationship with food is strained and it is starting to get complicated. I understand the challenges you maybe experiencing. I wonder if you have been struggling with other difficulties, such as trauma, that are hard to verbalize. You do not need to struggle in your own.

I am an MSW, RSW, psychotherapist, and Registered Dietitian. For over 20 yrs, I have specialized in helping individuals and families to successfully move beyond the effects of a range of interpersonal relationship challenges including eating disorders. Our journey together is paced as we attend to mental health, emotional, and /or Eating Management skills-building needs. Along the way, it is often necessary to identify and adjust "taken-for-granted" thought patterns, emotions, and behaviors that no longer align with your evolving life goals. Together, we rebuild your skills, confidence, hope, life, and important relationships.

I aim to produce the confidence, knowledge and skills necessary for individuals and families to move forward and resolve issues in one to three sessions.  Sometimes, more sessions are needed in order to meet treatment goals. However, a minimal amount of sessions can often be enough to make positive steps forward. I focus on a strength based, confidential, supportive and judgment free approach to guide individuals and families in living their best lives. Life is too short to be unhappy, unsure, or unfulfilled. Let me help you learn and develop better ways to handle the issues that are standing in the way of your goals.

Loss is not just limited to death loss, although that might be what brought you here. Loss includes the loss of our pets, our health, an important relationship, our work. Society tells us that even with death loss we can be cured and should “get over it” as soon as possible. I believe there is no moving on from, there is moving on with grief. For anyone experiencing loss, there is a better way and that is to learn to companion our loss and give it a place in our lives. We companion our loss by talking about it, giving it meaning and allowing it room to exist.

Everything that we do is a habit that developed based on our experiences in the past. From the moment we are born, we learn how to be in this world and how to be a person. When we are struggling or suffering, and some things are hard and challenging in our lives, whether it is anxiety, depression, trauma or addiction, or things we wish we could change, it’s because we've learned a way of being that is now a habit that can be hard to change. But we are whole, exactly as we are! The changes we make are in how we relate to the experiences and events in our lives and, most importantly, to ourselves.

I believe that each one of us is the sum of all the journeys we have taken and all the people we have met along the way. We navigate peaks and valleys, traveling up or downstream. At different junctures in our lives, we find ourselves in an ‘in-between’ not knowing which path to take. It is through my own journey and the ones I have taken with others that I have come to bear witness to the strength, courage, and wisdom we each have within us. In my work with individuals, couples, children and youth, I explore challenges, crisis, loss and struggle within the context of one’s interpersonal relationships.
