I believe that when we are buried in fear, anxiety, depression, existential dread or the various forms of mental and emotional distress that lead us to seek counseling, we are primarily dealing with a loss of connection. That disconnection - from people, purpose, safety, motivation, meaning and even disconnection from our own sense of self - can have so many different causes, and each of us must chart our own path to wholeness which can feel impossible to do on our own. I am continuously humbled by the bravery of my clients as they step onto this path of healing and self discovery which is not always easy, but is always worth it.

My clinical framework is rooted in attachment theory, which reiterates the delicate nature of the relationship between mother and baby. This relationship is integral to everything in our world and yet we often trivialize this relationship and assume that if there is a happy, healthy baby, then our mothers should remain perfectly aligned. The truth is, we know that the journey of motherhood is far more complex and intertwined, than how society portrays it.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is at the core of individual and family work. When working with children, I believe in the power of play, art, and connection to build relationships and skill-build along with process challenging life events. I support families with increasing communication, building compassion and connection while honoring families’ inherent strengths and background. During individual therapy with adults, our work will be geared towards finding balance in navigating the unknown and building coping tools. In all aspects of my work I am committed to working from an anti-oppressive and affirming lens.

Integration is a process one continuously undertakes to shift and sort the insights gained from an experience or life event and live from a place of healing, learning, insight, and understanding. I work with clients to assist in integrating past and present events, conflicts, adversities, and states of being. Working from a holistic framework that views each client as a whole being, and not separate from their mind, body, emotions, or soul.

Welcome! I am currently accepting new clients and specialize in helping young adults and women reduce their symptoms of anxiety and depression. People come to see me when they are feeling overwhelmed and exhausted by their relentless self critic. They often use words like “stuck in a rut” and feel trapped by their negative thinking and downward spirals. Sometimes they are frozen "waiting for the other shoe to drop". They are looking for relief and skills to help manage their runaway thoughts and feelings, advocate for themselves, process grief, and ultimately improve their self confidence and self esteem.

My approach is based on the belief that the client is the expert on their life and they have internal strength and resources to heal. My journey in mental health began while serving as an assistant pastor, where I addressed community concerns related to immigration and other challenging services. Realizing the need for more specialized care for families, I pursued further education in trauma and crisis management. While managing a busy private practice, I noticed an increasing number of people struggling with OCD and sought specialization to better support them. At NOCD, my team and I specialize in providing evidence-based treatment for OCD. Our deep understanding of the nuances and intricacies of OCD enables us to diagnose and treat it effectively.

If you are looking for a therapist, it is likely you are ready to experience some change in your life. I provide trauma-focused psychotherapy which can guide you into both transformation and healing. You may be suffering with symptoms of depression, trauma, chronic pain, and anxieties. When you reach out for help, feeling better is an inevitable outcome. Often, when you begin to more mindfully experience your inner world, you may feel more emotional intensity before you feel better. My therapy approach is holistic in the sense that I acknowledge and work with the body, mind, emotions and spirit.

Right now, everything you need is within you. I know how frustrating and overwhelming it is to feel "stuck", powerless, “not good enough,” and without support. It feels so bad because these beliefs are not true and it’s time to move beyond what used to keep you safe. Yes, we are wired to stick with what we’ve known, even if it has been hellish and heaven is promised on the other side. The good news is, if you want to, you get to be in charge of how you’re wired. That’s where I come in.
