The persistent need for women's spaces, like The Ladies Lounge at MONA, is starkly highlighted by studies indicating a high percentage of women feel unsafe in public spaces, writes Danielle Asciak, CEO of The Women's Club, Sydney. Beyond providing a physical haven, women-only spaces offer psychological and emotional support, fostering environments where women can freely express themselves, engage in intellectual and creative pursuits, and find solidarity among peers.

I heard somewhere recently that when you regenerate a forest, you start from the most fertile land and work your way outward. And I think the same applies for social initiatives too. When you're trying to make change, you start with the people most aligned and grow a community from there. But where is the most 'fertile land'? It's wherever your purpose lives. I'm really interested in the intersection of arts and business because we know business needs creativity and creativity needs business. So I love when I have the opportunity to co-design models with the aim of being self-sustaining and regenerative, like this pop-up co-working day - serving the needs of a Manzana-type community - now running every Wednesday on trial for the next month or two at the Ellen Melville Centre.
