We are thrilled to announce that as of today GJP, in conjunction with Phil Williams, have received planning permission for an Energy Park on Rover Way, Cardiff! 🌱 This Energy Park will comprise a number of high-efficiency containerised battery storage units, along with a Data Centre. The battery park will provide storage for renewable energy (such as solar and wind) from the National Grid network. The Data Centre will in turn create a new state-of-the-art facility, which will seek to revitalise this area of Cardiff by introducing new high technology uses that will contribute to the economy of Cardiff, Wales and the whole of the UK. This energy park will boast an impressive 1,000MW of battery storage capacity, making it one of the largest battery storage facilities in the world! Each element of this scheme, particularly the increase in renewable energy supply, aligns with and promotes the Principles and Vision of the ‘One Planet Cardiff Agenda’, which targets Cardiff as a Neutral City by 2030. This will support the drive to achieve a carbon-neutral energy strategy for the UK which is dependent on the use of renewable and green energy - with wind and solar power being the most cost-effective forms of energy generation. We are proud to be contributing to this significant step toward a greener, more sustainable future for Cardiff, Wales, and the UK! Thank you to all who helped deliver this outcome for this very exciting and much needed scheme. Clients: Latos Data Centres Tremorfa Energy Park PCG Ltd. 🎉 Reserved Matters Approval has been secured for 26 100% affordable homes located at the SA1 Waterfront, in Swansea! GJP are delighted to announce that Swansea Council have given delegated approval to grant reserved matters approval for 26 100% affordable homes in the SA1 Waterfront in Swansea. The planning application was reported to the Council’s Planning Committee where it was subsequently determined to be approved subject to the completion of a S106 Agreement. The proposed development will be delivered by Beacon Cymru Group (formerly Coastal Housing Group) and will comprise a mix of 2-bed and 3-bed units. This development forms part of the wider redevelopment of the SA1 Waterfront in Swansea, and the site itself boasts an excellent location that fronts onto the Prince of Wales dock. This scheme is highly sustainable, consisting of highly energy efficient homes that will utilise renewable and sustainable energy sources, including solar panels and ground source heat pumps. The development will play a significant role in contributing to the delivery of affordable housing in Swansea, helping to address the identified need in the County. We would like to extend thanks to the whole project team who helped to deliver this outcome: Beacon Cymru Group Architects: Holder Mathias Architects Project Team: Vale Consultancy CORUN ASSOCIATES LIMITED TACP (UK) Ltd #Swansea #PlanningPermission #AffordableHousing #Development

Yesterday members of the GJP team had the pleasure of visiting Caswell, Swansea to visit one of our longstanding sites – ‘The Dingle’. Known locally as ‘The Secret Garden’, this beautiful site - The Dingle - was discovered and restored to its former glory by the previous clients, who used historical photographs (like the one below) as a template to guide the restoration. Back in 2017, GJP secured full planning permission for the construction of a contemporary dwelling within this CADW Grade II Registered Park and Garden of Special Historic Interest in Wales. This approval is said to ‘protect the significance of the Heritage Asset’ by CADW, which has been upheld due to the continued ongoing care and maintenance of the garden. This achievement was particularly rewarding as it came after an earlier scheme having been refused at full planning application stage and dismissed at appeal in 2016. On our way we passed one of our previous projects - Crown Place – a 500+ student accommodation situated on the waterfront overlooking Swansea Marina. It is always great to pass projects and see them after completion! This project is the 'National' Winner in the Regeneration & Retrofit category at the Constructing Excellence awards! This follows its previous 'Regional' (Wales) win. One of the facts contributing to the win of this award is how this project "Celebrates industrial heritage: The 12.5-acre site has 12 listed internationally significant industrial heritage buildings or structures across it." Congratulations again to the entire project team involved in delivering this outcome! It was a pleasure working on this project. With the '𝘏𝘢𝘧𝘰𝘥 𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘧𝘢 𝘊𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘴 𝘙𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵' winning the Regeneration & Retrofit category at the Constructing Excellence in Wales Awards 2024, we’re excited to look back on this transformative project GJP completed for Penderyn Distillery. GJP successfully secured both Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent to transform the Grade II listed Hafod-Morfa building—once the powerhouse of Hafod & Morfa Copperworks which dominated Swansea’s copper industry —into a vibrant new distillery, barrel store, and visitor centre for Penderyn Distillery (see the below for a before and after). This remarkable refurbishment now includes a shop, tasting bar, exhibition space, whisky tours, offices, and a VIP bar, offering an immersive experience into Swansea’s rich industrial heritage. This council-led development initiative has brought new industry and visitors to the area, whilst promoting learning and understanding of the region’s past, helping to forge a new path for cultural and economic regeneration in the region. 💬 “ 𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢 𝘴𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘧𝘶𝘭, 𝘮𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘯 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘯 𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘹, 𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘨𝘦.” – Constructing Excellence, 2024 🗨 We’re proud to have been part of this successful project team! We are delighted to announce that GJP have secured approval for a 'Replacement Dwelling', just outside of Oxford! This unique proposal was influenced by the site’s existing constraints and opportunities, the underlying approach was to disturb as little of the site as possible and for the dwelling to be at one with the landscape. This Bespoke Architecturally Designed dwelling is to be built across two storeys, with one of these below ground level, setting the built form within the slope. As a result, the design layout effectively provides a new dwelling which has a greater affinity with the topography of the site, its setting, and has a more appropriate appearance for its context and setting.
