It is inspiring that a #fabricfirst, #buildingphysics-based approach is gaining momentum in #Wales. Spring Design advocated this approach with Llywodraeth Cymru / Welsh Government and were instrumental to its incorporation in #WDQR2021 so it is particularly gratifying to see this picked up by the Passivhaus Trust. Our continued outreach quantifies, qualifies and promotes the benefits of this approach for #sociallandlords, #developers and - most importantly - #tenants. Tai ar y Cyd represents an exciting new chapter of the #justtransition. 23 #HAs & #RSLs are committed to delivering #socialhousing to #AECB #CarbonLite as the base performance standard with an aspiration towards #Passivhaus. Analysed through #PHPP, #spaceheatingdemand & #EUI are recognised as key demand-based metrics that ensure #optimisation while delivering #affordablewarmth and #healthyhomes. Spring continue to strengthen our expertise in this field with Jaime certifying as a Passivhaus Construction Verifier; Christopher, Gavin, Carl and Bethan training as Passivhaus Tradespersons; Dewi as a Passivhaus Designer and Jonathan as a PHPP Expert. If your organisation works in development and wants to know how demand-based metrics are applied and the value they can add, get in touch with our team to learn more! #buildtightventilateright #highperformancehomes #lowcarbonhomes #operationalcarbon #operationalenergy AECB - Association for Environment Conscious Building Design Commission for Wales Good Homes Alliance Homes England LETI Passivhaus Trust UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) UK NZC Buildings Standard

Thank you to GJP | Town Planning & Development Consultancy for sharing. Spring are appointed as #architects & #civilengineers to #redevelop the former Fforestfach Embassy Social Club for #newbuild #socialhousing. On the perimeter of Ravenhill Park, nestled amongst existing residences, the site is located close to existing #amenities and #transportlinks. #PAC invites the local community to interrogate development proposals and provide valuable feedback to ensure the design response is sensitive to its context.
We are pleased to announce we have recently commenced a Pre-Application Consultation (PAC) at Fforestfach Embassy Social Club. 📌 Location: 75 Ravenhill Rd, Ravenhill Swansea, SA5 5AN. The scheme is proposing the demolition of the existing Fforestfach Embassy Social Club building to make way for the construction of 16 affordable apartments, new access & associated works in Ravenhill, Swansea. To access plans, reports and additional information see more on the consultations section of our website – https://lnkd.in/eC_HiEnz See the pictures below for the existing building and proposed development - sourced from extracts of perspective views taken from drawings prepared by Spring Design (additional views can be found in the Design and Access Statement). The consultation is open until the 3rd of February 2025. Anyone who wishes to make representations about the proposed development please write to consultations@gjplanning.co.uk, or alternatively submit comments in the comments box found on the consultations page on the GJP website (see link above). Our Jaime’s memes inspiring the AECB - Association for Environment Conscious Building 🎉
Just a little humour to finish the year...thanks to Jaime Moya for his meme, slightly altered so as not to offend any of the 3 Bears... Goldilocks thinks you should consider AECB CarbonLite Standard for your project next year, it could be just right...

Happy New Year / Blwyddyn Newydd Dda! With the Spring offices re-opened we are proud to share this progress photograph from Narberth Road. Redeveloped as part of the Cardiff Living partnership between Cardiff Council & Wates Group, we are all excited to see new high quality homes delivered on this #brownfieldsite through 2025. It is also a neat analogy for the year ahead: currently looking a little wet and muddy (!) but so full of potential. Thank you Adam Portman MSc for the regular updates 🙏
What a great start to the Narberth Rd project. Remediation completed, first section of road and drainage installed. Piling has just commenced and will continue into the new year. 2025 is going to be busy but the team is ready and looking forward to it! We are proud to support our colleagues continue their professional development & grateful for the support from Llywodraeth Cymru / Welsh Government through the Flexible Skills Programme.
Today I travel to Manchester (carried by Transport for Wales) for #PHPP #training with Zero Energy + Passivhaus. Pairing #lowcarbontravel with #lowcarbonskills! Perfect way to end the week: progress photographs shared from one of our live sites. Fantastic work from Hale Group Ltd on behalf of Wales & West Housing 👏
It's been the perfect week for capturing drone footage 🎥 of our Myrtle Close development. The team are busy constructing the retaining wall, following installation of the tower crane 🏗️. When complete, Wales & West Housing will have 70 new apartments and a communal living area 🏡🏘️. The homes will be energy efficient, benefiting from solar PV, MVHR and Air Source Cylinders.
