🚂 £10.5m refurbishment of National Railway Museum 🚂 The GRAHAM team are currently replacing the National Railway Museum’s Grade II listed roof structure at Station Hall in York, a former goods station built c1875 and now home to the museum’s 6 Royal carriages 👑 The new roof will provide a thermally efficient and weather tight solution to protect the museum’s collection of unique locomotive engines and carriages for years to come. Existing wooden doors at the rear and side of the hall will be replaced by thermally efficient glazing, allowing views to the South yard, whilst still adhering to the building’s Victorian heritage. Other works are underway including improvements to public access, upgraded heating system, lighting and new fire suppressions system. Look out for more project updates soon. 📸 Alistair Leith #GRAHAMBuildingNorth #BuildaProject

👩🎓Welcoming our ConstructHER Students 👩🎓 It was great to welcome our young trainees to GRAHAM last week to mark the official start of our ConstructHER training programme. With only 15% of the construction workforce being female, we hope that training schemes like ConstructHER will go some way to help address the gender imbalance. This bespoke programme of learning and development focuses on technical roles and support services and will equip trainees with valuable knowledge of working in the construction industry. There is also the opportunity to join our apprenticeship scheme when they finish school. Over the coming months the girls will learn about Sustainability, Health & Safety, Bid Management, Building Information Modelling and much more. We look forward to bringing you regular updates as they progress through the programme. Debbie Rutherford Suzanne Stevenson #GrahamBuildingNorth #BuildaCareer #Construction
🥇 GRAHAM Mentors Award-Winning Social Enterprise 🥇 GRAHAM Building is delighted that Distington Community School was awarded ‘Most Profitable Social Enterprise’ by the Centre for Leadership Performance Cumbria for its participation in the Bright Stars programme. Located near the new Community Diagnostic Centre in Workington, which GRAHAM is constructing for North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, GRAHAM was honored to serve as the school’s business mentor for the #BrightStars initiative. This innovative programme fosters leadership and social entrepreneurship among primary school children in #Cumbria. 🗨️ The judges praised the students' efforts, stating: “By selling tickets, snacks, and their cookbook, the pupils made a fantastic profit of over £1,000. Using their communication skills, they wrote letters and emails to parents, shops, and supermarkets, securing generous donations. They also promoted their events with eye-catching posters and ClassDojo posts. Their hard work strengthened connections with local businesses and created a recipe book that families can enjoy for years to come!” The school is very deserving of its £100 cash prize, and GRAHAM knows this money will be put to good use.
