Seasoned Natural Gas Industry Expert with 19+ Years of Experience in Market Analysis, Regulatory Compliance, feasibility study, and Gas Market Opening Strategy
Why did Cyprus Reject Chevron's Revised Plan for Aphrodite Gas Field , one point of view. -The Aphrodite gas field, discovered in 2011, holds an estimated 4.4 trillion cubic feet of natural gas , or approximately 125 billion cubic meters. and is located near Israel's Leviathan field, involving Chevron and NewMed. -The rejection is primarily due to economic concerns, as accepting the revised plan would result in a significant reduction in Chevron's investment and adversely impact Cyprus's projected revenues. -The original projected costs of the agreement were $3.6 billion, but Chevron's amended proposal would have reduced it by approximately $1 billion. -The production wells would have been scaled back from five to three, leading to a decrease in production rates from 800 to 650 cubic feet per day (cfd). -The existing agreement, dating back to 2019, allows Chevron to recover operational costs from natural gas revenues for around five years before the Republic of Cyprus claims the majority of profits. -Cyprus has invited all parties involved to return to negotiations within 30 days to reach a new agreement. -The cancellation of the Floating Production Unit (FPU) proposed by Chevron raised economic and quality concerns, jeopardizing the quality of extracted natural gas. -The existing agreement from 2019, which allows Chevron to recover operational costs for five years, remains in force. -note: The implications of Cyprus' decision for the proposed pipeline to Egypt are unclear at this stage. If Cyprus and Chevron are unable to reach a new agreement, then it is possible that the pipeline project could be delayed or even cancelled. #AphroditeGasField #Cyprus #Chevron #RevisedDevelopmentPlan #NaturalGas #EnergyCrisis #LNG #PipelineToEgypt #EconomicConcerns #QualityConcerns #Negotiations #NewAgreement #Implications

As BIV News reported last year, two Alberta natural gas producers – ARC and Tourmaline Oil (TSX:TOU) –inked agreements with Cheniere to move natural gas produced in Alberta and B.C. to Louisiana via the North American pipeline system to supply Cheniere’s Sabine Pass LNG projects. Cheniere is expanding its Sabine Pass LNG terminal. Tourmaline and ARC each signed agreements last year with Cheniere to supply the American company with 140,000 MMBtus (million British thermal units) per day of natural gas from Alberta and B.C. Both companies are major producers in B.C.’s Montney formation in Northeastern B.C. ARC Resources is currently building a new $740 million natural gas processing plant in Northeastern B.C. -- the Attachie project. https://lnkd.in/g7mAmr3P

The floating liquefaction natural gas (FLNG) platform is about to enter the gas production site of the Grand Tortue Ahmeyim GTA field. The floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) platform is about to cross the common border between Mauritania and Senegal on its way to its final destination, the GTA field facilities. At the same time, the floating production and storage unit (FPSO) is about to enter the port of Tenerife, in the Canary Islands of the Kingdom of Spain, where it will undergo the necessary technical checks before being integrated into the GTA field's facilities system. The arrival of the FLNG liquefaction vessel at the production site and its definitive integration into the facilities system represent a historic moment in the GTA gas production project, which is now more than 90% advanced. The GTA project will thus have reached advanced stages of component integration in preparation for the start-up of gas production.
