🇪🇺 Last month in #Barcelona, we joined the EIT Community NEB 2024 Gathering. It was a valuable time for building connections, celebrating the New European Bauhaus and envisioning the future of our cohorts and projects. Our Grant manager Fabio Colombo introduced In Appennino, the project we created to strengthen citizens’ ownership on local development strategies in rural and mountain areas ⛰️ 📚 Combining engagement methodologies such as interviews, stakeholder mapping and Community Editorial Committee, the project produced a digital publication co-designed by artists and the Community Editorial Committee; a methodological handbook for stakeholders willing to replicate the initiative; and helped inhabitants acquire the skills they need to tackle current challenges in mountain areas. ➡️ Click to read more and download the event takeaways: https://lnkd.in/daw9GCey Looking forward to the next initiatives and projects 🤝 EIT Urban Mobility EIT Food EIT Culture & Creativity EIT - European Institute of Innovation and Technology #NewEuropeanBauhaus

Hello, 2025 This year begins with exciting partnerships and meaningful city [re]development processes that inspire and motivate us at Play the City. Take, for example, the #FoodsharingGame, which we’re developing in collaboration with the #Cultivate teams, including Wageningen University & Research , and the follow-up stages of #Kangoeroewonen036 with Kunstlinie Almere. Across the Atlantic, we’re thrilled to work with Stantec and the Urban Land Institute Boston/New England on a #MultifamilyHousing Development Game. Meanwhile, here in Europe, the #CivicEconomyGame with #Civic from London is set to roll out, with potential implementations in Voznesensk and other Ukrainian cities. In Ukraine, we’re also proud to start the partnership with Ro3kvit: Urban Coalition for Ukraine, STIPO, and INBO on #CommunitiesattheHeartofUrbanChanges —a collaboration that reinforces our commitment to urban resilience and recovery. In Türkiye, new projects are taking shape. We’ll be developing games for İzmir and the Marmara region in partnership with the #İzmirPlanningAgency and Marmara Municipalities Union. However, if there’s one thing we’ve learned from recent years, it’s that the world remains an unpredictable place. While we don’t know exactly what 2025 will bring, we’re open to face it with new collaborations and growing mindset for resilience.

DREAM_PACE challenge at the Technische Universität Berlin and BGI - Sustainable Ventures winter school held in #Aveiro (Portugal)! Together with BGI - Sustainable Ventures from Lisbon and the Universidade de Aveiro, Technische Universität Berlin invited 35 students across Europe for the #Innov4Mobility winter school on latest trends in urban mobility and research. “How to reconnect Europe’s rural regions” was the DREAM_PACE challenge set by TU Berlin. 6 students discussed mobility services nowadays and worked on a business idea on #DRT (Demand Responsive Transport) in rural regions. The aim was to develop a social-technological solution to provide villages of the Hinterland with mobility provision. As a result, the group developed - in February 2024 - their DRT-platform CommuniRide in line the principles of blue zones (where people live especially long and healthy) and the integration of local business. #CominiRide does not only aim to guarantee mobility services but also envisions DRT as a collective space of social interaction.

📄 The PlaceOut! Charter is finally here! After two years of collaboration, this charter captures the voices of residents from non-urban areas and transforms their insights into a blueprint for bottom-up policies aimed at tackling the unique challenges faced by these communities. 👉 Read the PlaceOut! Charter here: https://lnkd.in/dUrqivP5
Yesterday, around 50 participants from across Europe joined us online for the launch of the Place Out! Charter. The PlaceOut! initiative aimed to amplify the voices of citizens in non-urban territories on the general quality of life, public services, economic growth, youth participation, education, and cultural heritage. The event sparked direct discussions between policymakers, youth organizations, and territorial entrepreneurs from four European territories: Badajoz (Spain), Chalkidiki (Greece), Province of Gabrovo (Bulgaria), and Mugello (Italy). These conversations emphasized the power of collaboration in addressing the unique challenges of non-urban communities. The Charter is the result of a two-year initiative, funded by Erasmus+, which has laid the foundation for concrete actions to empower non-urban communities and foster sustainable development. 📄 Read and download the Place Out! We are finalizing our work on the Mykolaiv Master Plan. 🤝We would like to welcome to Mykolaiv representatives of the Italian company One Works and the United Nations Economic Comission for Europe, who have been working on the Master Plan for a long time. I emphasize that this project is important and unique for us. Mykolaiv is one of two cities where the Master Plan is being developed. Now other cities can follow our example and use our developments. This document covers all aspects of city life. As part of this strategy, several pilot projects related to five key components of the city have been identified to be developed. ✅ Innovation and entrepreneurship: a new multifunctional microdistrict focused on science and innovation - Innovation District of Mykolaiv. ✅ Industry and trade: regeneration of the former embankment industrial area into a mixed-use complex and a new multi-use industrial park to support production and logistics. ✅ Housing and community: redevelopment of social housing, including the renovation of existing buildings and the addition of new residential elements. ✅ Culture and heritage: restoration of a heritage and cultural area or building that is especially important to the city and its people. ✅ Green and public spaces: refurbishment and improvement of a key city center or riverside public space to enhance social activity. At this meeting, we discussed the details of the work and the short-term and long-term projects that need to be implemented for our city. #MasterPlan

#Traveling is one of the most demanding and yet rewarding aspects in #research. This time, heading #north, in #Norway, I could meet the other DARE2CYCLE project partners and have some great discussion about current and future developments in the #circularbioeconomy and #alternativeprotein transition within the #dairy sector.
A couple of weeks ago, the first in-person meeting of the Green ERA-Hub (GEH)-funded DARE2CYCLE project took place in the facilities of NMBU - Norwegian University of Life Sciences. The project partners had the chance to discuss the preliminary project progress, share views on the future activities as well as visit the advanced labs of the hosting partner. A big thanks goes to the local organizers Volha Shapaval, Boris Zimmermann, Margarita Smirnova, Dana Byrtusová, as well as to the participating partners: Victor Takazi Katayama (Fraunhofer UMSICHT), Joosu Kuivanen (Enifer), Katinka Perrott Arntsen (TINE SA), Miao Guo (King's College London), Piet lens (University of Galway), Carlo Moscariello and Silvio Matassa (Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II).
