“To Make The Best Better” Last week, we had the honor of attending the Ohio 4H Achievement Award Banquet where exceptional Ohio youth were recognized for their 4-H achievements and were appointed to represent Ohio at the National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, GA. We were beyond humbled to learn that our daughter had been named as one of the select few to attend, and she’s beyond honored to take part in such an amazing experience. If you're not familiar with 4-H National 4-H Council, it's a youth organization administered by the United States Department of Agriculture that inspires young people to continue to learn and grow by doing and make their best efforts better through participation in educational experiences. 4-H's motto is "To Make The Best Better", and it's at the core of every single person associated with the program. The highlight of the evening was watching a short 60 second video of each nominee explaining what 4-H means to them. At the core of each candidate’s video was a common theme. Their success can be attributed to passion, focus, responsibility, positive experiences, acknowledgment, satisfaction, and paying it forward to others. In our own lives, it's easy to get drawn into the day-to-day chaos that results in us losing sight of the path and attributes that led us to our successes. Our environment can often force us to prioritize firefighting and look backwards thus causing us to slow or stop moving forward with our goals. When we stop being successful, we lose satisfaction, and finally passion. We should all take a lesson from these successful young adults, follow their example, and focus and prioritize on the core values that made us who we are today, prioritize execution of goals, help others achieve their objectives, and like my daughter and the other kids in the picture, remember to have fun! #4H #makethebestbetter #ohio4h #osuextension #usda #exceptionalyouth #youthleaders #passion #ohio #opportunity4all National 4-H Council

Director of Business Consulting + Owner/CEO side hustle This is my personal account. All likes, posts, reshares, comments, etc are a reflection of such.
This was one of the first events I attended as an EmployIndy team member and it's still one of my favorite events each year. So what? I'll tell you what: 1.) If you're doing great things at your organization around DEIB, NOMINATE yourself!! Tell people about why it's important to you and what it means to be a great organization. 2.) Attend! If you aren't fully confident in where you are at on the DEIB journey, that's ok! Attending this event is such a great way to network with others and learn how you can move the needle. (Pst, I know some people that can help you with those goals too). REGISTER &/OR NOMINATE YOURSELF TODAY!! https://lnkd.in/g3z4x8Ke

Congratulations Alex Steven - a great achievement! 🎊 Alex, who works as a part of our ASIC Design team, is one of the many staff members here at STFC working to support and collaborate with our early careers staff. Check out Alex's post below to learn more about the #EarlyCareerConference 👇 And why not visit #STFC's website to discover what other early career opportunities we can provide ➡ https://lnkd.in/eieDzBSZ #UKRI #Technology #TD #Earlycareers #Conference #Success
Last week saw the culmination of a fair few months of work delivering the very first UK Research and Innovation Early Career Conference at STFC's Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, and I couldn't have picked a better team for doing it! With almost 200 colleagues attending in person (and nearly 250 online throughout the day too!), the conference seized the initiative and created one of the first peer-to-peer platforms for colleagues across UKRI councils to connect, collaborate and learn. By creating these spaces for early careers colleagues, the network hopes to inspire a new level of interconnectivity and networking throughout our organisation. Despite us all working on this in a volunteering capacity, we put together a programme of sessions and speakers that offered something for everyone, saw huge engagement with senior leaders within the organisation and served as a launchpad for the network's new strategy and Champion initiative. Special shoutout to the whole leadership team for their efforts - Madison Hicks, Jemima Jones, Hollie Doell, Zakia Bilques, Philip J. Hubbard, Dr. Megan Yates, and our executive sponsor, Paul Vernon, for his continued support and advice. Certainly a career highlight so far, and excited to share more of the conference's outcomes and sessions in the next couple of weeks 📸 Shahidur Chokdar #ecncon23 #leadership #conference #stfc #ukri #earlycareer #communication

Triggered by the unfortunate tragedy of Grenfell Tower in June 2017, our alignment at the Digital Twin Skills Academy CIC to the much needed cultural and systemic change(s) required, all as part of the transitional arrangements to comply with the #BuildingSafetyAct, has presented many opportunities for the DTSA. In seeking to diversify the sector and foster a more representative and inclusive #talentpool, we have chosen to interject, to undertake the required outreach and engagement with large swathes of the pan-London community, who remain underserved and in many ways completely overlooked. "The fact remains, that in order to support the greater adoption of #digitaltwins, EVERY willing and able citizen - regardless of their socio-economic standing - must be able to participate and get involved!" _ Dr Bola Abisogun OBE (Hon DUniv, Hon MBA) We look forward to working with all at the Digital Twin Hub and the wider #DTHub #community, to achieve this ambitious, people-centric goal. #Equity #Diversity #Inclusion for #YoungPeople interested in #CostManagement #DigitalConstruction and #DigitalEngineering #Apprenticeships _ #ItsTime to equip the #NextGen talentpool with the #skills to sustainably address #ClimateChange and deliver the #decarbonisation agenda, using #DigitalTwins Matt E. 🎉 2023 provided some of the most fruitful growth for me. From my personal highlight of getting engaged to my phenomenal partner in April. To my academic growth graduating with my M.S. in Communications from S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Last but definitely not least, joining KQED as Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Program Manager. This been a career-defining move and truly an honor to contribute to an organization dedicated to fostering diverse voices and perspectives in media! In embracing these moments, I've learned invaluable lessons: 💡 Cherishing every accomplishment, no matter how big or small. 💡 Pursuing ambitious goals while staying adaptable has taught me that sometimes our dreams evolve, and that's okay. Being persistent in creating new dreams aligned with our lives, in any path they take us, is crucial. 💡 Stepping into the unknown, whether in relationships, academics, or careers, has opened doors to unexpected opportunities and incredible experiences. 💡 Embracing curiosity about different perspectives, cultures, and ideas has not only made me more inclusive but also enriched my personal growth, fostering a deeper understanding of the world around me. (My most sincere gratitude for Eric Abrams teaching this lesson.) As I stride into 2024, I'm carrying these lessons with me, eager to continue learning, growing, and making a positive impact in all aspects of my life.
